My move to the retirement facility (If joining the thread late, at least skim the first few posts)

Ask @ParallelLines – I think it’s the wifi transmitter thingie. :woman_shrugging:t4:

Along with the requisite splinter group which enthusiastically debates whether “ketchup” or “catsup” is the better spelling.

Replete with citations and scholarly etymologic works to support

GODDAMMITTT!

Just tested positive for covid. I’ve avoided it all this time. Godddaaammmiiittt. I’ve had had a bit of a sort throat and cough, but it really feels just like a cold (not even flu) and lack of sleep.

Rats.

More later.

Dang.

Beaming “stay well” thoughts to @ThelmaLou.

Awwwww. I’m sorry, Thelma. That … you did NOT need.

Do what you must to take care of you (“put the oxygen mask on yourself first”).

Can you get/take Paxlovid?

You have too much faith in me, I’m not good at all technology after all. But still, a google lens search pulls up -

Which is a solid visual match, when you are feeling better (and may it come soon, this was again, something you didn’t need!) you should check if there are indeed ethernet ports for wired access on the bottom side.

Back to COVID, hopefully, you’ll get over it by catching up on the sleep you were already behind on and make the most of the bad situation. But when crap piles up like this, combined with pre-existing stress, it’s best to be extra careful, okay?

ETA - I wanted to point out again that as in prior threads, @ThelmaLou asked me to confirm something she had already figured out on her own, of course.

Gaaah. That is very much too bad. But let’s hope the symptoms get no worse; sometimes they don’t.

Check with your doctor about medication; and do your best to get sleep. I know it’s hard right now.

– does this mess up specifically anything about the move?

Ya know, my symptoms (sore throat/cough) are already much better than they were Monday, so I think I’ll skip treatment.

Ah! :bulb: Good idea.

Not to mention my fluency in and command of highly technical lingo.

Actually, I’m so far ahead that it really doesn’t. The movers don’t come til next Tuesday. I wanted an excuse to take it easy, and now I’ve got it.

Thanks, y’all. The good wishes really help!

Me too. My streak broke on Monday. Very mild case, my doc prescribed pax. It does knock down all the symptoms. I barely had a fever, didn’t go over 99 and lasted less than 24 hours. The pax does have an icky aftertaste…

Somehow Discourse didn’t flag this as a thread I’d been reading, so I’ve missed a LOT.

Really glad to see how things are working out, and your apartment looks great. Really roomy compared to the places we saw when we were looking for one for my mom ages ago.

Sending good kitty vibes and they settle in fine.

I ordered this kitty bunker from amazon this morning and it arrived a little while ago. Tikva immediately went inside and started kneading on the soft floor. Very gratifying! I wanted her to have a hidey hole that was already a little bit familiar.

Well, EC has discovered it, too. One of the Amazon reviewers said they had to get two of them because the cats fought over the one.

Oh fantastic!

She’ll already have established it as a place that she likes and feels safe in.

Might well be a good idea.

Especially if they’re not best buds enough to want to huddle together in times of stress.

– What’s the doohicky on top? A cat toy designed to hang down from the door?

I had a similar one. The cats did indeed fight over it. Great hiding place.

Yes.

I already ordered another one to be delivered tomorrow.

I want one for me.

Amazon does have these…

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BFDNSZWR/?coliid=I9N1GC20PVNOT&colid=24QTCUIQPIK7&ref_=_sed_dp&th=1

I may want one, but I’ll have to check my policy to see if the Auto Club will tow me out of that thing

EC has discovered the doohicky and is having a great time with it.

Prrrrrrr.

Update on the (hopefully fast) COVID recovery and cats? As this has semi-officially moved into the realms of one of our cats threads. :smile_cat:

:wave:t4: Hi, PL!

Yesterday and today I have done nothing but loaf. I think I took three (maybe four) naps today. My temperature has been a consistent 99 degrees. No coughing to speak of and sore throat gone, too. Yay!

The second cat hidey-hole that I ordered yesterday just arrived. Tikva spent a long time in the other one this morning, and as soon as she left it, EC moved into it. These will turn out to have been a very good purchases. (I hope I can get reliable amazon deliveries at The Home. I get A LOT from there.)

There are some things I could take over to the new place tomorrow, but I truly do not want to push myself, lest I have a relapse (or prolong it if I’ve still got it). I plan to test again on Saturday.

The house feels gloomy and not-much-of-a-home anymore.

Thanks for checking up on me, my friend!

Fantastic 4-episode series on Netflix, “Secrets of the Blue Zones”

P.S. Tikva keeps going to the back door several times a day to be let out. I really have to thank @LSLGuy for putting his foot down and telling me to keep her in. Tough love-- both of us needed that!
