You forgot the orangutan!
I liked most of it. Some of the best parts are already mentioned: World’s Best God, bordline artistic.
Almost all of the video was great. But Earl’s bit was so-so and Joy’s was horrible. (Except for a “gravelly” texture to his voice, Crabman could sing. And Randy much better than I would have thought. No Catalina singing though.)
Overall the Joy material was generally the worst part.
Note that Joy was not pregnant in any of the imaginary sequences except for Earl’s.
Catalina actually sort of danced next to the pole, instead of jumping. What the?
Was that actually Crabman singing? I really thought it sounded great!
Overall I liked the ep. Joy’s parts didn’t do much for me, but then, I don’t like Joy. Randy’s was perfect - HR Puffenstuf and the orangutan. Darnell was wonderful, too. I sort of thought in Catalina’s novelo, the fiancee would turn out to be a Camden regular.

Quick question for those that hated the show:
**Are you old enough to have watched H.R. Puffenstuf as a kid? **
I have a feeling that for those that did watch it, this show was better than for those that did not.
Jim
In fact, I hadn’t even heard of H.R. Pufnstuf until I did a little googling. I assumed it referred to the real name of the Stay Puffed Marshmellow man.
The only part that really cracked me up was Catalina’s fantasy.
“Catalina! Why are ju crying?”
We spent the rest of the evening shouting to each other through the house: “Now, I cry with happiness!” “Now, I cry out of fear!”
The rest was a blend of Meh and WTF? (FTR, I am not old enough to have watched H.R. Pufnstuf, but I am well aware what it is)
NBC posted Darnell’s video on YouTube. Please Respect the Meat. I fell in love with Eddie Steeples when he was the Rubberband Man in the OfficeMax commericals. He is the only reason I watch Earl- love his side story.
The line actually was “Now I cry tears for fears,” a reference to the 80’s group. (Everybody Wants To Rule The World)
Yeah, I remember H. R. Pufnstuf. I remember the controversy also when McDonald’s tried to get the Krofft Brothers to license their characters for their commercials. The Kroffts declined, but McDonalds ripped them off anyway, with their creations of McDonaldland characters such as the Grimace and Mayor McCheese. The Kroffts sued and McDonalds was forced to pay them in excess of $1 million.
Didn’t hate it as much as you, but I vote for this option purely on principle against anything this random that’s also largely unfunny.
Fortunately, this ep had no bearing on any issues of character or continuity, so it’ll be quite easy to pretend it was just a bad fever dream.
The body of a porn star, so to speak.
Loved it. An instant classic.
“Pretty impressive for someone who uses a 17 letter alphabet”.
Any TV with H.R. Puff-n-stuff in it is great TV. I laughed my ass off!
Not only Puff n Stuff but they used all of the Puff n stuff cartoon sound effects while he fought!
I enjoyed the episode for what it was. A trip into teh minds of the characters and how they see each other. Not Great but not the absolute worst.
Besides how can you hate an orangutang driving a car?!?!? heartless monsters
Didn’t Randy mention something about “Right turn, Clyde?” like in Every Which Way but Loose? Or was I imagining it? (Heh.)
I give it a thumbs up, especially the Tears for Fears reference. Overall, I’m ready for Earl to get out of prison and get back to his list.
It was in the previous week when Randy and Earl planned to join in on robbing the Indian casino. Then Earl got married to Joy and Randy spaced out and forgot because he was watching Pufnstuf. He was going to use his share of the loot to buy one of those “right turn, Clyde, Clint Eastwood monkeys.”
This is the kind of episode you get when all the writers decide to drop acid during thr same week.
And I miss Acid TV.
Dammit, I missed about the first half because of weather issues, and I can’t seem to play the rewinds at NBC.com. Can anyone help me out?
Darnel’s video was better than the entire second season put together. I’m just relieved that every week isn’t a prison episode - I was dreading this season, actually, but it is turning out much better than I thought. We’re saving this one on the DVR to watch again.
Did Crabman actually say “om” when he put the crab in?
I’m too old for H.R. Pufnstuff, but I liked Randy’s sequence anyway, since this is exactly what he’d be imagining. I also hope they stop with the special episodes and get Earl out of jail.
