The part that had me laughing the hardest was Billie going around undoing all of Earl’s good deeds. Stealing Didi’s leg, having people laugh at the freaks, playing Nescobar a Lop Lop’s own voice to him on a tape recorder, outing Kenny to his parents…
I agree that this season rocked. I was skeptical about the whole prison thing at first, but it all worked out in the end. I reckon that’s how karma works sometimes.
You know, I was not too crazy about the prison episodes when they first aired. They were okay funny, but I do not remember too many “laugh out loud” moments. I think I need to watch my tapes again (Yes, I still use VHS tapes!) – maybe those episodes will grow on me after repeated viewings.
And it did all work out in the end, didn’t it? The show seems back on track. I can’t wait for next season!
“My accent is terrible! People should hate foreigners!”
And DAMN did that Camdenite girl become hot! I mean, yeah, you could see some cuteness coming through the little outfit she was wearing, but when she became “regular”? Well, let’s just say there’s a little saying going around about me, my bunk, and my proximity to it.
I think this quote sums up the episode nicely. At its heart, Earl should be a show that is nearly self-contained each episode. A little “overview” plot for the regulars (like reoccuring characters), but approachable to the strangers.
I liked when every episode was a morality play revolving around an item on the list. This season got way too far away from it (except maybe the Prison episodes, which I loved). They also tried some bold concept episodes which I thought failed (Catalina’s soap opera).
After the episode, which was good, I thought just what gytalf2000 said. The show is positioned to get back to its roots next season.
And I thought the ending was excellent. I love when Earl solves an issue in a creative manner. Delivering Billie to the Camdenites was awesome and the use of “Take Me Home Country Roads” as a song to end the show was well done (I downloaded John Denver’s version the next day).
All in all, a choppy season, but thankfully it will be back next year in good form.
