As of tomorrow morning/early afternoon, I will be the proud owner of a red 2000 Chevy Cavalier. At just over 24,000 miles, I’ll be paying just under $10,000 for it. I drove it today and I really, really like it. The one complaint I have is the exterior color, but I can live with that or get a paint job. No big deal.
I haven’t owned a car since my old (really old) Buick which I sold for parts at the price of one (1) can of soda and one (1) bag of Sunchips with a total retail value of about $1.
So now I have a car. Go me! (This means no more excuses for missing MN Dopefests. Oh wait. “I have to work” is probably a pretty good excuse. Hmmm…)
Congrats on the ride! The Cavaliers have been great cars here as of late. I’m sure that you’ll love it. Sounds like you got a pretty good deal as well. And don’t worry too much about the color, it’ll grow on you. Just give it time.
If you have nothing else in mind, may I suggest that you name it after someone brilliant, witty, kind, cheerful, loveable, sexy, and cool as fuck? I’m talking, of course, about myself.
I had a 96 cavalier, until my sister totalled it a few months back. It was a really good car, and I still miss it, lol. I had it for a little less than 2 years, and I never had any major problems with it. The brakes tended to suck in the snow and rain, but I’m not sure if that was just my car, or cavaliers in general. and my sunroof broke, but that was because my friend decided it was crucial for him to shove himself through the opening while going 75 down the interstate. I kept meaning to get it fixed, but then Sara crashed it. At least I never put the money into it
So my shiny new car is now sitting in my driveway. I’ve put about 15 miles on it since I picked it up, which is actually surprising. I expected that number to be much higher. I’m really pleased with my choice so far.
You know Silver, red doesn’t look bad if you add flames.
Notice above has no smilies I love flames and think more cars should have them. Someday I am going to have enough spare $$ to put flames on my black mustang conv.

Congrats on the new car! I know exactly how you feel. I just got my car back today ('91 Grand Am not exactly new) and I don’t know how I lived without it.
Pammipoo, that is almost exactly like me! My fist car was a 96 Cavalier, and damn did I love it. It was great. It was also red (good choice of color :D). Until I wrecked it. I was shattered. It was after about a year and a half. So then my parents got me an 87 Celrbrity. I called it the Baby Blue, cause you know what color it was? Damn, was it a piece of crap. And it died on me after 3 months, last week. So yesterday, I got a 95 Saturn. Not bad at all. But it’s GOLD! Colors just seem o be my problem, cause I don’tthink I can handle gold. But after going through 2 cars, I’m going with whatever my parents can get me…oh well.
But the moral of the story is, I still loved that Cavalier…
And I managed to get four speeding tickets in a year driving a green car!
Good choice, Silver Fire. The Cavalier is a good car anayway, and from what I understand the 2000 model is superior. For some reason I keep running across people who have them.
Silver Fire when are you going to pu some SERIOUS miles on it and come pick ME up in Miami? My '87 300ZX rolled over 230,000 miles this week. Red. Only one speeding ticket, and I was framed. But I’m going to be in the financial mood to buy a “newer” car this summer. I’ll keep your joy in mind.
