This one for the adidas_1 running shoe. As a runner I am skeptical of the actual shoe, but this commercial is great, thanks in equal parts Spike Jonze directing and the wonderful soundtrack with vocals provided by Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and written by Spike Jonze brother Sam Spiegel.
I also love the commercial, and was wondering about the song that was played in it. Thanks for shedding some light.
I wish more companies would invest some thought into their commercials. I’m not sure if it would help them sell anything, but it would make television more pleasant to watch.
My new favorite commercial is the one for Dell where the couple is in bed, the wife is trying to sleep, while her insomniac husband is grilling the Dell call center tech about possible times where there won’t be a call center tech to take his phone calls. My favorite part is when the husband is running through a list of holidays and his wife interjects with, “What about Kwanzaa?”, the husband hushes her and then asks the tech, “What about Kwanzaa?”. My second favorite part is when the husband is about to call Dell again, when his wife commands, “Honey, give it up”.
My current favorite ad is for British Airways. The tagline is something about “Go to England with those who know.” And the ad shows someone who doesn’t.
He’s talking to two people eating hamburgers on the bench, introducing them to the audience as the Royal Beefeaters who test the King’s/Queen’s food for poison. They walk up and leave. As they do, real Beefeaters march into the scene. Our host looks at them and comments “Cool! Clowns!”
I like the new DQ ad with the woman covered in electrodes reaching for her drink and getting zapped.
Any idea on what song that is? Sounds very familar.
Very cool movie, though. Reminds me of the short “Aquarium.” Spike Jonze is awesome.
