My new iPhone thinks I'm my niece

So I got a new iPhone 5s. Love it!
Except… The first time I asked Siri a question, she answered me and then called me “Mary” (my name is not Mary).

I asked her to call me by my actual name and she said OK, but I still figured something wasn’t quite right. Later, when I was looking through my contact list, I saw my niece’s name, Mary [same last name as mine] and the word “me” next to her name.

Uh, no, that’s NOT me, thank you. I looked in all the settings I could think of and couldn’t find a way to tell my phone that I’m not, in fact, Mary. Does anybody out there have an idea of how to fix this?

Is it in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > My Info?

I’m sorry, Mary. I’m afraid I can’t do that.

Well there is a family resemblance.

You probably shouldn’t have stolen your niece’s iPhone.

:stuck_out_tongue:

Maybe it’s just something about Mary.

You never even call me by my name…

Just say " Siri, call me “Wheelz.”

This is the answer. Click on the “My Info” menu item and it lets you choose a person from the contact list as you. Who knows how it decided that your niece was you, though. Maybe it just picks a random contact, for fun

Start calling Siri…“BEULAH”

No, that will change the entry for Mary to call her “Wheelz”. Tell Siri that Mary is your niece. And then tell her “I am Wheelz”.

I told Siri to call me maybe.

Well, not to you maybe.

Too bad your niece wasn’t named Shirley.

then it would become Mary Wheelz.

This just in. OP changing username to Mary Catfish

Booyah! Got it in one. I’ve enjoyed the rest of the thread, however. I would probably have had to legally change my name to Mary if I hadn’t found this out; such is the power of Apple.

I never remember it.
