My new novel is out! (Urban fantasy, #1 in the series)

I had them made (the narrator is a pro VO guy who’s a friend of mine–I’m very happy with the job he did, especially since he nails my main character’s voice). Audible…they’re okay. I’d like to keep more of the royalties, but they’re kind of the only game in town unless you’re a much bigger draw than I am.

I really hope you like it. If you like audiobooks, PM me and I’ll send you a free code. Just a tiny way of helping out a fellow Doper.

Nope, I hate and loathe audiobooks. The fact my hearing is deteriorating just makes it worse. A kind offer, but please save it for those who prefer to listen rather than read.

I prefer written books, in actual print. Please keep writing such things, there is still an audience for them.

I got an email from Amazon yesterday morning that the new book was out. Downloaded it to my Kindle yesterday afternoon, and finished it last night. I really enjoyed this one (I’ve read and liked them all, but one of the more recent books didn’t engage me as much as the others). I like the addition of Raider, and I hope to see Grace again soon.

Thanks for a great new series, and keep them coming!

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! (If you have the time and inclination, if you could leave a brief Amazon review I’d be most grateful. )

I’ll vouch for the standalone quality of the others. As noted, they’re better if read in order, but you don’t need to. There’s never any “to be continued” cliffhanger garbage; the books have their own beginnings, middles, and ends.

(This is the sort of series I love best! Self-contained novels, but loosely linked in a larger plot-arc. The Horatio Hornblower series is an example.)

Finished the first in the series - not perfect, but it’s a good read and an enjoyable ride. Folks who have read the rest of the series - quality remain the same or go up?

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.

I won’t presume to offer a valid opinion (don’t listen to me!), but I will tell you that the general reviews have mostly agreed that the series gets stronger after the first book (and I agree with them). The Amazon reviews will confirm this.

I will be starting the audio book recording of book one tomorow and will post/share thoughts on both the book itself and the audio book version specifically.

Goes up…but not really markedly. Infovore has a mature, developed style, and the books are comfortably consistent in quality.

(They aren’t quite so uniform as, say, Dick Francis, but they are dependable: if you liked one, you’ll like 'em all.)

I haven’t updated this thread in a while - sorry! Book 12, Necessary Sacrifices, is now available.

We’re up to Book 7 available as audiobooks, with a new one coming about once a month until we’re caught up.

Updating again: Book 13 is now available!

Audiobooks are up to book 9, with book 10 finished and coming out any day now.

I have fallen behind! It’s a good thing you keep this up to date.

I’m always afraid I’m being too pushy, but I figure a line every three months is okay.

13 novels in 3 years is pretty prolific.

They weren’t written in 3 years - I had a few in the can before I started publishing them. I’m usually around 3-6 months ahead of schedule for writing vs. release date, to allow adequate time for editing, cover design, etc.

How long would you say it took you to write all 13? And what’s the average word count on them?

Average word count is somewhere around 100-110K words each (there are quite a few that go into the 140-150K territory, but a couple that are shorter at 62K and 78K).

It usually takes me around 2 months to write one (give or take–some go slower, some go faster). I quit my day job last year and I do this full-time now.

That’s awesome man! Congratulations!

That is awesome! Do you use a particular method to keep the word count up? Some writers I know are very meticulous with charts, and calendars, and “shall it mote it be” for words today, and some are a bit more spit it out in chunks. What works for you? Are you a planner or a pantser?

I shall now pester you. :bats eyes innocently:
