Please don’t take this the wrong way. I understand that women love shoes and purses, and I know that they loathe more of them than they like (uh, maybe). That said:
I found the shoes linked to in the OP to be absolutely hideous. I would never, ever, say as much to someone wearing them, but I would think it.
Based on the wide difference between my opinion, and those of other Dopers (plus the fact that I lack any fashion sense at all), is there any way for a guy to get a sense of what’s hot and what’s not in fashion? I say this only out of my own sense of diplomacy, I might still find something abhorrent, but I’d like to know how to tell a white lie should the need arise.
I’m not only ignorant in regard to womens footwear, it seems I’m also ignorant as far as Men’s footwear is concerned. I find almost all of Steve Madden’s sneakers to be super fugly.
I just can’t get behind the idea of certain fashion trends. Some I like, and might even adhere to, but most just seem different for the sake of being different.
All I know, is what I think looks good, and what I think doesn’t. This makes it hard for me to either lie about how much I like a person’s clothing, or telling them flat out that I think they look ridiculous. Relative silence has been working for me recently, but I dread any inquisition about my actual thoughts.
If those boots were worn with anything but straight leg jeans, I’d consider them fugly, too. You aren’t going to see the whole boot all the time; just an occasional peek at the detail. Oh well…to each his own, right?
Oooh I like those, Kalhoun . I just got two pair of these , in brown and in black. Nothing fancy, just general heels to get me through a few years. I luurrrrve them. I am pining for a new pair of boots but I can’t justify it right now.
I’ve been looking for shoes like those! So far I’ve only found them in patent leather or with a 4-inch heel. Do they run true to size?
