Excellent news. Here’s hoping things continue to improve.
For blood thinners and antibiotics? Are there other drugs? Anti-fungals? (or was the arm implant merely something you did while you were there?)
A girl with refined taste, I see.
I’ve been following along. I’m so glad to hear things seem to be steadily improving.
Thanks all! We have made it home safely!
They actually pulled the drain out today a bit before noon.
They needed to put her on something without estrogen, so progesterone only. After discussion, the arm implant was the best option (as long as she takes it well).
Indeed! We almost managed to go through the whole series, start to finish (again).
Congratulations on closing that adventure and getting home!
Great to hear you guys are back home. Wishing you the best and her a continued speedy recovery.
Enjoying knowing you’re back home. Thank you for letting us know.
Hope everyone gets to enjoy lots of rest in their own beds and eating their favorite meals together. Pet snuggles too, of course.
Keep us updated when you can!
So the kid is doing great! This week she decided to go back to school, and even managed to perform in her orchestra concert yesterday (which is why she insisted on going to school this week despite the school saying she should stay home until at least after Thanksgiving…)
She still finds it hard to play her wind instruments, but the cello apparently causes her no problems.
Next Friday we are driving down to Denver for a follow-up meeting with the various teams involved, and hopefully will have a timeline for the actual removal of the appendix!
All great to hear! Her perseverance to play in that concert and return to school will serve her well.
Hope all the findings are sterling during her followup.
That’s great news !
I’m so glad to hear the worst seems to be behind you. Sounds like you’ve got a great kid.
Great news, but how did I miss that they hadn’t removed the appendix already? And why hadn’t they?
They probably need to get the infection around it cleared up first.
I wondered if that was it.
Yep! The infection was too severe and too widespread, they did not want to risk cutting in with the problems she was already having unless they had no other choice.
Lab results from yesterday looked so good they said not to worry about having any additional lab monitoring done between now and our appointment next Friday, so things are definitely going well!
Now that’s something to give thanks for!
Yay! I’m glad things are going so well!
Almost five months later: tomorrow that pesky appendix FINALLY comes out! All blood clots have been resolved, and she is excited to put this particular chapter behind her!
