FCM FCD is going to Calica after KW? Don’t understand the snerkage and the exactly. what does this mean?
Ugh. I’d complain about the heat, but seeing as a lot of the Mumpers are Southern, it’d be useless. Forecast for Thursday is up to 109, though. I hope it doesn’t hit 110, I don’t think I’ve ever seen that here.
In unrelated news, I sent my iPhone off to be repaired today (nearing the end of the warranty that I haven’t used yet), and didn’t realize that storing a phone in the attic for a year absolutely kills it. My backup phone is dead, and so I’m without cell phone for the next several days. ::
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ YAWN ‘tis 79 degrees Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 100 and a heat advisory as the heat index will probably reach around 114 this afternoon. Way too hawt! Also, I have a meetin’ this afternoon at the main office. Apparently TPTB want to talk to me about possibly doin’ some case management duties. Not sure if’n that means more money or what but we shall see.
I survived yestiddy. Barely. The evenin’ thing was outside and it was HAWT! Plus gnats (N.O.G.) everywhere! I hates them critters! We only got lost once headed to a home visit. Ummm… if you mean “turn right” don’t give directions that say “turn left.” All in all not a bad day, just looooooooooooong!
Congrats on the grandson’s weddin’ Bumba!
Tomato preserves intrigues me. Must investigate. Plus, hope you’re feelin’ better Rosie.
donkeybear do you feel nekkid without a cellphone?
Ok, time for more caffiene and some brekkie for rumbly tummy. Then, alas, irk purtification must commence.
Happy Hump Day Y’all!
FexEx, the *exactly *and the snerkage were just there for snarky sarcasmness. I may be losing my mind, but I know you’d have no idea which tourist wandering the city is related to me - or even which was me if I was there. Anyway, if text had tone of voice, you’d have understood what I was trying to convey. So it’s the computer’s fault! And after KW, she’ll be returning to Miami. I think the route was Miami-Nassau-Coco Key-KW-Miami. Just a mini-cruise.
**Brick **- I actually broke down and bought a Bissel carpet cleaner, and it was one of the best things I did. At one point, we had 3 dogs, one who was ancient and couldn’t hold her pee, one who was young and marked EVERYTHING, and the one we still have who will water the dining room if someone doesn’t let her out on demand. Not to mention the brat cat who peed on several pieces of furniture for whatever reason.
In fact, I’m on the second carpet cleaner - after 5-ish years, the first one started having issues that I didn’t want to deal with, so I gave it to a coworker and bought a new model of the same cleaner. I figure it pays for itself after 4 uses - so this one has started putting money back into my account. No, really - cash magically appears whenever I clean the carpets. It’s amazing!
I was going to mow the ditch today, but weather radar showed a huge band of rain headed this way. If it’s not falling in an hour, I’ll try to get it done - it’s not a big job, so maybe I can get it done quickly without hurting myself. Walking sideways on a slope is hard on the knees.
And I’m definitely going to get some pectin so I can make the peach perserves today. Beyond that, no big plans. Or little plans either. I’ll just wing it. Yeah, I’m a rebel that way.
Happy HumpDay!
Up, caffeinated off to irk. 6 days till vacation,
Up, decaffeinated and at irk. 38 days until vacation.
I had a bad night, we had the bedroom windows open because it’s hot and humid. I woke up at 3.30am and I could smell burning. I woke up 'im indoors in a panic because I thought the house was on fire and the smoke alarms had failed. Turns out the little window factory three doors down the street was having a bonfire. At 3.30am! Madness, I tell you, madness!
So I am tired and a little grumpy but I did make it my priority today to email the council and complain about said bonfire.
Now I am going to attempt to look productive for the next 3hrs and 40mins until it’s time to go home. And then I’m going to the pub.
Hump day! I have to work all five days this week. Blech.
My check looks pretty hefty this week! My back pay for my raise finally showed up! Too bad it’s already spent…
Have a good 'un…
Yay for back pay finally showin’ up Rebo! It’s always good even if it is already spent.
Forgot to mention earlier that I did not have house guests last night. JDD and Partner got power back around noon yesterday and their house was cooled down enough for human habitation. So yay for electricity! Now they just have to get rid of that biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig tree limb.
It’s been a productive morning. I mowed the evil ditch from hell and a few spots along the driveway which were raggedy looking. And as I was sitting here quietly doing my jigsawaday, stoopit Ziva horked up a hairball on a houseplant and my treadle sewing machine, so I got to clean up that mess. But I am showered and clean, so there’s that.
I think I’ll head to Walmart for some kitteh litter and pectin and dog treats and whatever else grabs my attention. I wonder what it’s like there on a Wednesday morning?
Yay, Rebo!! Since it’s already spent, I assume the gift for me that you spent it on is in the mail??
**BooFae **- that doth well and truly sucketh! I was awakened once by the overwhelming odor of gas in my apartment. Actually, it wasn’t gas, it was an overdose of mercaptan - someone at the gas company goofed. Lucky (stupid) me, I just went back to sleep. Hey, I was a dumb college kid…
OK, so off to spend money. Speaking of which, the truck tire was beyond repair, and there was just enough wear on the other tires that we really needed to replace two. Always a good idea to have equally new tires paired up. So whatever it was that **FCD **hit south of Leonardtown will cost us $450-ish. They’re big-ass tires. Stoopit truck.
My 10 year old daughter has the lead in the community theatre production of Cinderella so all heck has broken loose in our house getting ready for Friday’s performances. Find the right dress, memorize parts, polish inflections, grandparents coming to stay, etc. Kinda fun, really. She’s both scared and excited but I know she’ll do well and it’ll be a great memory for her.
lieu, I totally misread that as “polish inflections” like the people, not the verb. :smack:
Very cool, lieu! You must post pics. Or if you don’t like sharing photos of your daughter with intrarwebz flakes, you could just email them to me, since you know me to be honorable and all that crap. Right? But Polish Inflections would be cool - she could do Meryl Streep doing Cinderella!
Slight change in plans - I’m meeting **FCD **for lunch, so I’ll leave for WalMart a bit later. He was telling me his mother called asking if we could reach daughter on her cruise. See, Tropical Storm Emily is churning up… So naturally, MIL thought we should call our daughter and have her tell the captain there’s a storm out there. Because his grandmother is probably long gone, so who can call him and tell him about the storm?? OK, she didn’t exactly say that, but what the heck does she think the crew does during hurricane season - wait for lots of rain??
My MIL cracks me up sometimes…
I was just looking at my credit union credit/debit card points rewards stuff - we’ve got enough points accumulated to get $200 in Lowe’s cards. Very timely, since we’re redoing the basement. I had no idea we had so many points, so yay!
still nauseated. cancelled appointments. going back to bed.
Poor rosie…
Back from shopping and lunching. I’ve got water started for boiling my jelly jars and for scalding the peaches. I’m about to launch into full preserves mode. Much yumminess will ensue - don’cha wish you lived with me?
All righty - I’ve now got 2 large jars and 3 more small jars of peach preserves. Plus I’ve got enough peaches in the freezer for a cobbler or pie, when it’s not too hot to bake and stuff. The kitchen is a disaster, but I’ll get it cleaned up. I need to sit and rehydrate for a bit.
Two retiree friends of mine have told me I should read books. I don’t want to read books. I have other things I want to do - things that have me up and about. Maybe when it gets cold and snowy, I’ll think about reading, but sheesh, I’m just 3 days into retirement.
And I realized a few minutes ago that today is the 38th anniversary of me going to bootcamp. Hard to believe I was ever so young. It also marked a big change in me and my life. I left the shy, scared kid behind and became the ME that I am today. I can’t even imagine who I’d have become if I’d taken the safe route and stayed home.
First Mumper to show up at my door gets a jar of preserves!! You’ve all got a fighting chance since **BBBobbio **is still on vacation. Or is he??
::zoom::
throws Rosie’s sig at everyone
throws anti-nausea meds at Rosie
::mooz::
please, someone go to the store for me.
eta - thank you, Spaz
If I was in your neck of the woods, I’d help yhou out, Rosie. I hope you’re feeling better soon.
I thought I put in a hard day’s work until I read your updates, MOOOM. I feel like I break a sweat just keeping up with your 'tirement. FCD’s tires may have been pricey, but at least he’s safe.
Swampy I hope they end out promoting you to one of TPTB!
Lieu I bet your daughter makes a fantastic Cinderella. May she get only excellent reviews!
Well, my lunchmeat sandwich was only so-so but it’ll hold me. I hope.
Bri2k
There’s been a distinct lack of humping on Humpday. :( I worked, I walked the dogs, I’m having an appetizer beerverage. Roomie and I may go out for cheap Mexican
{{{{rosie}}}}
Congrats to your daughter, lieu.
Howdy Y’all! The ummm whatever it was this afternoon went well. There are four of us who are bein’ considered I found out. So we shall see. Nice to be one of the ones thought of though, right? It’ll be a couple weeks before I know anything.
MOOOOOOM the improtant thing to remember about weekdays at WallyWorld is proper attire. I believe muumuus, fuzzy slippers, spandex shorts, tube tops, flip flops and stiletto heels are all appropriate. Never curlers though. Curlers are strictly Sattidy WallyWorld attire. So, you call FCDaughter and tell her to go tell the Captain there’s a storm out there so he should what? Turn around? Go in a different direction? Get on the intercom and announce that everyone’s gonna die? I kinda like the last idea the best.
Lieu I’m sure daughter will be the next Hollywood sensation. Or would that be Broadway. Hope her Polish inflections turn out well.
Feel better Rosie!
Ok, Ima go lie upon the bed and watch teevee. I’s still tahrd from yestiddy!
Nitey Nite Y’all!
