Hey, y’all. I’ve been in a non-chatty mood, but I don’t want you to think is to think I’m deserting again.
I got my latest eBay purchases - two kimono and two obi. The obi aren’t ones I can tie yet, but they’ll work with some of my kimono. The kimono are great - they’re both lightweight ones so I can wear them a lot.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ YAWN ‘Tis 75 degrees Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 97. A nice hot, muggy, steamy day to tour southwestern southwest Jawja! Thanks for the finger crossin’ Brick but, alas, I fear a loooooooooooooooooong irk day.
Folks are up and stirrin’. JDD needs to be at his place around sevenish to let the electricians in to do inside stuff and Partner, like me, is goin’ to irk. I told 'em that even if everything gets done ‘lectricity wise, they are welcome to stay again if’n they need to especially if their house does not cool down enough. Sometimes it takes the a/c a while to cool down a house around these parts. So, I may or may not have folk in da cave when I get home this evenin’.
On that note, I think I’ll go seek more caffiene and some brekkies. Then, alas, irk purtification must commence. Le sigh.
Happy Tuesday Y’all!
Miracle of miracles, Scruffy didn’t start barking till nearly 6 this morning, which is good, since I stayed up late watching Children of a Lesser God. I’ve seen that movie a gazillion times, but it’s got a young William Hurt…
I forgot to include in my OP that yesterday marked 11 years on the Dope for me! That’s longer than most of my non-marriage relationships! But I’m not hooked - I can quit at any time…
**Brick **- I’ve got a lot of years of neglected chores to catch up on. As long as I was working, I hated using my weekends to do big stupid tasks, like cleaning closets. Now I can do them at my own pace, so yay for that!
**FedEx **- hey, my daughter will be in your neck of the woods this week - she’s doing a 5-day cruise out of Miami, and I think Thursday is Key West day. So if you see her, tell her to behave herself. Because, of course, you’d know *exactly who she is… * <snerk>
So, what are my fun plans for today you ask? Before my sweetie left for the office, he helped me remove the dining room table. I can get the rest of the stuff out of there, except for the hutch, which we ain’t movin’, and I’m going to steam clean the nasty carpet in there. Scruffy still occasionally thinks it’s her persona toilet. Stoopit dog.
I’ll also be running to the sto’ for some pectin so I can make another batch of peach preserves. I can’t believe I forgot the pectin yesterday. I should get 2 large and 4 small jars from the batch. And I’ll be cooking up a batch of sketty sauce with the 'mater sauce I made last week. I’ve got the ground beef thawing and I bought half a pound of portobellos yesterday. Sketties for supper tonight!
**FCD **also asked me to mow the ditch, but I just don’t want to. Maybe tomorrow… Stoopit ditch. Wonder if I can rent a goat to eat those tall ugly weedy growths?
Up, caffeinated, off to irk. 7 days till vacation
MOOOOOOM I say go for the goat. You get the weeds munched, plus goat milk and make your own feta cheese! It’s all win-win!
We shall be leavin’ about eight-forty five for the epic journey across southwest, southwest Jawja. Can’t wait.
Y’all behave today! Or as close to it as y’all can get.
Happy Tuesday!
Yippee!
Yeah - I got nuttin’.
At work, being just terribly responsible, as you can see. Was 80 degrees when I woke up this morning, and looks like the rest of the week is supposed to be over 100 every day. I hate the South in summer. ::sulk::
MOOOOM, YES to goats. They are my absolute favorite farmish animal. Mostly because they are adorable.
Road Scholar. My parents have had some great trips with them.
I found used meat this week too. Two packs of ground lamb and three of ground veal. We’re going to have some good meatballs and burgers!
I’ve got an interview today with someone who used to work for my boss. At this company, doing more or less this job. There would be new software for her to learn, but she knows the concepts and has used similar software before. I’m really hopeful that the interview goes well and she can start in a couple weeks. I’d love to hand off a bunch of work and be able to just do one job instead of the about 1.5 that I’m doing now. Which is down from the 2+ that I was doing before my new analyst started to get up to speed. That’s an improvement. I’m looking for the rest of the improvement back to 1 job per person! Fingers crossed!
I’ve got a load of clothes in the washer and I just finished cleaning the dining room carpet - what a sweaty job that was! Funny thing, using the steam cleaner is like using a vacuum, except it’s a wee bit heavier, and I have to stop periodically to empty/refill the water. And I move it slowly to give it time to scrub well, but doggone, does it get that “glow” going! I was pleased to see a number of flea carcasses in the dirty water. Yay!
I’ll do one more load of laundry, and I’m going to take photos of the bedroom furniture we’re trying to sell, then post it. Roll-top desk, too. Gotta get them out of the house - we’ve got too much stuff.
And we’ve earned enough Papa Points to get a free pizza! Yay for free food! I think we’re also ready to collect on a freebie at Red Robin. Nothing like getting rewards for something you’d do anyway.
Good luck with the interview, taxi! Hope you get the help you need.
And it’s almost lunch time. As soon as I hang out the first load of clothes and start the second, I’ll take a food break. I deserve it, dammit!
It’s Tuesday? How’d that happen?
Way to go FCM on beating the retirement doldrums.
Having had the last few months essentially off, I can relate on a small scale to the wanna do something feeling.
And, in a rather quick segue, after not having a job for 4 months, I heard yesterday that I have an offer coming probably this week. AND, the even better job I was waiting for to open, is open now.
So, from no job to being able to choose from two.
Oy.
**CatDude **- everyone should have such problems - yay!
I just finished hanging the second load of laundry on the lines. Of all the things to bring me pleasure… but doggone, clothes dried on the line smell sooooooooo good! Plus it’s really green, and it’s saving me $$ on my electric bill. And I get to be outside in the fresh air and sunshine without sweating too much. win-win!
And I came in to say “It’s only Tuesday?!?!?”
Hello everybody. Sorry I was incommunicado last week. Was busy.
Well, we got #1GrandSon married off last Saturday. It was a beautiful wedding and we’re very happy that he married this particular young lady. She’s a keeper.
Also was a vendor at the Newberg Old Fashioned Festival Thursday night through Sunday afternoon. Every year I say “this is the last time”, and every year I do it again. It’s fun, and we make a little bit of money, but it’s too long, and hot, and dusty. I’ve got three more boxes of soap in the workroom to be cleaned and re-wrapped because the labels are too filthy to offer for sale. I’ve got enough to go to the Farmer’s Market today. The rest needs to be ready for the Public Market on Saturday. Besides all that, Newberg Artwalk is this Friday, so sometime before then I need to go over to the real estate office and hang a large quantity of artwork.
Also tonight #3GrandDaughter has a piano recital. It’ll be fun, but we’ll be tired.
I noticed that last week Swampy made another feeble attempt to catch up to me. Nice try Swampy Happy Birthday! Also, welcome to Geezerhood,** Bobbio!**
I’m sure I’ve forgotten a bunch of important stuff, so Rosie’s sig to the rest of you.
Oh, you’ll get the hang of this retirement business pretty quick Moooom. Don’t worry.
My sketty sauce is simmering, and it smells yummerrific!! And yesterday I picked enough 'maters to make another batch. I need to get pectin so I can make more peach jam.
Meanwhile, it’s time to scoot outside and take in the laundry. This Happy Homemaker stuff better not get too old too fast!!
Moooom - ever make tomato preserves? My mom used to, it was pretty tasty spread on a toasty english muffin with a little salt & pepper
I’ve never heard of tomato preserves, but it sounds interesting. I’ll check out a recipe or 2…
Laundry is down, folded, and put away - doggone, it smells good! I’m about to start boiling water for sketty. It smells good in here and I’m starving!!
Hehehe steam cleaners are fun, MOOOOM! I had the pleasure of lugging one up to my gf’s 2nd floor apt. and then endlessly running it over and over the rug in the catbox room for an older cat that kept arriving at the box too late. Poor mean ol’ cat is now in a cute little urn with paw prints on it. Not missed. At all.
Congrats on your grandson’s wedding, Bumba!
Swampy I hope you make your rounds quickly and get home safe. You’re missed 'round here.
Me, I’m running on 4 hrs. sleep. I’m lucky I didn’t cuss out loud at the orafice today or wreck on the way home.
Time to collapse. I’m beginning to feel like a brick.
Bri2k
I’m feel as if I’m going to puke any moment - could be the two ginormous mugs of coffee, or could be a simple stomach virus. Whichever, I’m gonna go turn into a pumpkin. See all y’all tomorrow
