My Uncle died of heart failure this afternoon, and my friend just died from COVID tonight

I’m going to repost here, its easier for me today …

I still can’t wrap my head around this. Losing my Uncle was a big blow and unexpected just 2 weeks ago but I’ve had 10 days to know he might not make it and probably wouldn’t make a full recovery if he did.

Losing my friend later the same day is a real gut punch. Completely unexpected and out of nowhere. I never even saw him last year. We usually see each other for BBQs, working on a boat together and sailing it or at the Clearwater Festival. Most activities = beer drinking as a group. Basically I see him in good weather and COVID shut that down and that took him from us when it seemed like we were turning a corner.

I hoisted a beer to him last night at least. To my uncle I hoisted a water, he was a recovering alcoholic, 30+ years on the wagon.

Tragic loss is quantifying… in less than a blink, nothing is ever the same again. My deepest condolences to you and yours.

WE, just saw this. My condolences, man. It’s bad enough to lose an uncle, and I know it must sting hard to lose a young friend from this dreaded monster that’s ravaging the world.
