My world, and welcome to it; a pictorial MMP

ooh me???

Yeah!

So… what color table cloth did you get?
It’s been raining biblically here, I guess our transition to fall is instep with yours…

A new chapter in the VunderLair soap opera.

Remember the felonious housekeeper that stole VWife’s prescription hillbilly heroin? The same one who took $130 for the September housecleaning (undelivered) then disappeared to Richmond VA for a 3 month stay in a residential rehab program?

Guess who we ran into in the Franklin Wally World today, supposedly 1 month into the program. :dubious:   VWife will be pressing charges before the weekend is out.

Sic 'em VunderWife! She deserves it.

Special1 what special (HAH! I crack me up again) stuff does one serve at Rosh Hashana dinner. I’m nosy about stuff like that.

I’ve had lunch. I had Moo Goo Gai Pan, egg drop soup and an egg roll. MMMMMM… Then I took a nap.

Your talent and charm will serve you well next week

<snerk> away!

Off-white (ish), maybe even closer to light beige.

No, here it was (as is customary for the First Rain) just a 5-10 minute downpour, and immediate summer again.

**Swampy **-- the most important traditional food on Rosh Hashana is eating an apple dipped in honey – for a good, sweet year (well, doesn’t really have to be an apple, but that’s the most common. It’s the honey what’s important, really.) There’s also something called Tsimmes, basically sugar-glazed baked carrots; also very sweet, and much for the same reason – but that’s not really a traditional New Year’s food, it’s just Jewish :). New Year’s eve is considered an appropriate time to serve it , though.

I miss the Jewish Smiley on these occasions…

**VBob **-- agreed. Nail her ass this time.

Welcome to my world where life is dull!

That description made me laugh. Sic 'er Vunderfamily.

Is it like a candied apple? It sounds…interesting. I may have to try it.

I envy you that view of a castle (or castle-type building).

I’m almost done with the Religion Chapter of my thesis! That means all I have to do is write the intro and conclusion and do some tweaking. Is that a light at the end of the tunnel? No, it got covered up by the unholy mess that is the Women Chapter. Stupid chapter falling apart at the end. Don’t make me shred you and alter your perspective yet again!

Oh, and sig URLs are back on again.

Special1 I can understand the apple dipped in honey as being pretty common. I mean, say, a turnip dipped in honey would be just gag!

Around my parts, it’s traditional to have greens and black-eyed peas for money and good luck on New Year’s Day. Hence, I have a desire to feed lots of people on New Year’s Day and usually have twelve or more people at da cave. It’s my own little tradition.

I don’t want a castle but a moat would be fun.

Those fritters look even yummier than I’d imagined, Dotty. Do you mind if I link to the picture from the blog?

That looks like a beautiful city SpecialAgent. Welcome to the MMP, by the way. (You haven’t stopped by before, have you?)

That hair color looks beautiful, rigs. I think it would suit you very nicely.

Finally home. Meeting at the park, then lunch at the market, then 2 hours of work making sure everything is set up correctly for the stuff in our new release to function when everything starts up on Monday. I’m tired. Maybe a nap?

I’m sure there was more I wanted to say, but I’m too tired to remember what.

Back when I’m more awake.

Hugs.

GT

Let’s see, net cruised, Dope cruised, WoW instance run, shower taken, now I need to clean up the house a little.

It’s a beautiful day out.

Now that I have confessed I’ll tell you guys too. My technological difficulties last night… TVMan’s laptop now has a virus thanks to me. :frowning: And despite my many efforts to fix it at home, I was unsuccessful. So, as of now I’m posting from my phone and hopefully when he gets a chance it will be easy to make the virus go away with minimal damage.

Ok, I’ll admit it. I googled the Piper Alpha monument and found out our guest (but no longer a guest, he is one of Us now) lives in Aberdeen. <jealous>
I made those NOT, Smartie. Wow! Very good. They need more garlic, though (I did garlic not rosemary). And next time I won’t leave the NOT in the boiling water so long–when I smooshed them, they smooshed all the way… Definitely will make them again.

The fritters I’ll make tonight. And I have some dark chocolate to melt and drizzle on them…
Off to pick #1 son up from work. Last load of laundry in.

GT-thanks re the hair. I will do it Monday. I hope it works out…

Not candied, slices of apples, dish of honey-- dip, eat.

Also, a round challah- to symbolize the cycle of the year etc.
Challah dipped in honey is good too! :j:

Hey guys waves

Thanks for the welcome. The city is pretty nice, just a bit dull at times. I forgot to include one of my fav buildings, Im lucky enough to live just round the corner from here. People say that its a beautiful place so I guess I take it for granted but I think that when you get used to something it becomes boring after a while!

Nickname time!
Special Two (to distinguish from Special One)?
AgentJ?
Federalis?

Hullo everyone.

I am very proud of myself. I went to the Clothing Show (think giant trade show, only every booth is selling gorgeous new and/or vintage clothing) and only spent half of my cash budget, and yet I still have an overflowing bag of new clothes. YAY!

Of course, since the universe must find balance in all things, I had to wake up with a vicious head cold this morning. I’m sure that the run-over-by-a-truck feeling had a lot to do with my responsible spending today, rather than any newfound sense of responsibility.

I’m now going to huddle with a bowl of chicken soup and watch some bad TV.

LiLi, unless you’re planning on sharing said uncorrected proof, I will have to accuse you of gloating.

Oooh! im liking the names! Agent J works good for me as Im least likely to confuse it with anyone else or spell it wrong!

Im loving this thread BTW, all the friendly folks seem to come here! Generally I find the dope a pretty friendly place but I tend to limit posting to avoid any unwanted negative attention. Glad to find I can post somewhere where people wont be a jerk for no reason.
Im having a really stressful time at the moment. My branch at work is merging with another and Im not a fan of the people or new working hours Im having to take up. Due to this stress I have had a break out of these, ok not half as bad as the poor soul in the pic but does anyone have a suggestion as to how I can get rid of them asap - I feel my last shread of dignity making its escape! :frowning:

Fer f**ks sake, JemmyBoy–stop showing us gorgeous pictures and being all ho hum about it. Wanna see what I can look at around MY town? Here:
it’snotnearasniceatgroundlevel

That is actually not my in my town, but it’s the largest and most easily google-able landmark around. If you want to take a tour (which sounds cool to me), there’s a 3 year wait. They open up the quarry once a year, mostly to Cub Scouts.

Dinner was steak and carrots and the new NOTs. I ate the preview of the NOT at lunch. (Jemmy–sorry, but you’re Jemmy to me for today, at least–NOT stands for Not Our Taters because we don’t believe in ritual meals involving humans as food.)

Re the rash–where is it, and does it itch? I’d see a doctor, pronto. No idea what it is, but it looks like it could be nasty. IANAD etc.

I have discovered that women who are expecting and have no children are funny. The friend who threw Other Quasi-Daughter’s shower was telling me (and another mother) about her post-baby plans, which include showering every day, and taking walks. We did a lot of, “Yes, dear.”

OQD, who is not a people person, didn’t talk very much. That’s fine. And Nat was really good.

I will lend it to you when I’m finished it, Muppet. Until then, I’m holding it hostage.

I’m glad to read charges are being pressed, Bobbio.

I’ve vacuumed, washed floors, tidied up, ran to the grocery store for some mixer and cash for tonight’s shindig, and hubby is washing the cars. Well, his is washed, mine is just about done.

We’re leaving in about 30 minutes, so I guess I should skeedaddle for now.

Totally unproductive evening, but I think that’s probably good. Walked around the neighborhood a bit as it’s the monthly artsy evening. Should have gone out earlier because some of the musicians were packing up already. It was really crowded, though.

Gotta get lots done tomorrow.

Guess I’ll watch a movie or something.
