My world, and welcome to it; a pictorial MMP

Morning, all. I was so tired yesterday afternoon that I slowed down to a crawl, so ended up not getting that ghastly job done till mid-evening – although since I was only working during commercials while watching mindless TV, I wasn’t exactly pushing myself. But then I couldn’t get to sleep, and then I woke up early and couldn’t get back to sleep. Dammit, I hate sleep problems! Stop this, brain! I was a sleep-like-the-dead sleeper until menopause. Stupid brain/body, betraying me!

I have nothing else of interest today, except a powerful desire to go back to sleep which, alas, will not be indulged in until bedtime tonight. But at least it’s delightfully cool in the house today, so I can enjoy the wonderful fresh air. It actually feels like fall has arrived, finally.

Have a good day, everybody!

Blurf.

Is it Firday yet?

I’ll be snoozing under my desk if anyone needs me. Mmmfffgzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

:::zoooooooooooooommmm::

waves hi…

**ITD **- sorry about your friend.
And now for everyone’s reminder to eat heart healthy and get a check up!!

**Rigs **- I have a scar on my arm from the Saran Wrap blade of mangling. It’s been there for approximately 15 years. I feel your pain.

**VunderBob **- loved the pics, love the town. It reminds me of mine.

Here is my town. I will take pics at my work tomorrow - I work both jobs tomorrow so I can take some pictures and maybe, just maybe, I can figure out how to get them from my phone to the computer. Surely there’s a magic word or something to get it to do right.

**Nava **- congrats on the new Paula.

Arrrgh! I should be gone now, but daughter is moving at the speed of frozen molasses!

I’ve discovered why she still owes on tuition. Her Stafford Loan and our Plus loan have not been disbursed! We need to talk to the financial aid office today now too. So, book store, financial aid office, cashier’s office, and she wants to map her classes so she can find them.

After that, it’s the emissions test for her car, a trip to her bank, and then my bank. I thought I was only going to have to take the morning off, but it looks like I’m going to miss the entire day. Arrrgh!

I’m irritated and stressed.

Bother. Someone make the baby go to sleep so I can do my E.I stuff over the phone, and then have a nap.
Come on. Everyone think soothing thoughts.

[sung in soothing tones]Rock-a-bye baby
In the treetop
When the wind blows
The cradle will rock
[/sist]

Evening all. My baby at least is asleep, and no wonder after she decided she didn’t want a nap this afternoon - pulled her old scream-till-I-vomit trick - I have no idea why, since she usually has an afternoon snooze without any problems ( :dubious: LiLi - did you send the wakey-wakey screamy baby vibes through the intertubes to us???) The upshot of it all was that she fell asleep on my chest for about 20 minutes at 4:45pm, then went to sleep without so much as a whine at 7pm!

I am tired and achey (a regular monthly kind of achey, if you catch my drift  ), and will now haul my ass off to bed, thankyewverymuch!

Where is everyone? The MMP is falling down the page! Where’s our normal chattiness?

Hey - I’ve had a hard day of hot baths and reading my book The Autobiography of Henry VIII. Get off my back!!
Oh and I’m online reading all the different stuff about soy because I remembered (out of the blue) some time ago how people were trying to get it taken out of ingredients and off the market saying it was dangerous and it seems I’ve been consuming a hella lot of soy products lately and I want to make sure I haven’t turned into a ticking time bomb.
Oh, and every time I see your name I mentally say “taxicab confessions” OR “relaxi-taxi/relaxi-cab”!

Sorry, was doing some work (for a change  ) and following the bitchfest in the Heroes thread over in CS whenever I had a couple of minutes to kill during a system refresh… exciting, huh?

My coworker also dropped by to feed me a piece of cheesecake made of roasted parsnips and goat cheese, which was suprisingly delicious… not at all what I expected, since in my head, both parsnips and goat cheese are savoury ingredients. I’m totally giving it a try next time we have foodie friends over for dinner.

LiLi, hope the baby finally drifted off to sleep.

That f*&^er hurt! And I have to have band-aids–otherwise the cuts open up again today. Oy.

Re the pics from phone to computer. I was told I need a cable of some sort which (of course) my phone being older than 2 weeks or so, the stores no longer carry. I hate such rapidly moving markets. I never did get the cable. I wish I could get the pics here, but…

I planted the bulbs. It’s a lot hotter out there than I thought. No one has taken the moldy couch (gee, what a surprise), but the curtains I thought would go. The printer went (but it doesn’t work, folks–that’s why it’s in the trash). Whoever took it, left one paper tray behind(?). The curtains are not moldy, btw.

I also mopped the kitchen floor, vacuumed the downstairs, and finished the latest Elizabeth George mystery. It was ok. Not stellar, but ok. I will never read the previous book (where she takes 600 pages to explain why and how she killed off the wrong character). Funnily enough, in this one, Lynley’s best friend and his drippy wife do not make an appearance, nor are they mentioned. For all I know, they were killed off in the last book. Who knows?

Wait–I finally TRY tofu and find I like it and now soy is bothersome? Oh, hell no it’s not. I’m eating it and that’s that. Grrrr.

busy, busy, busy day today. Looks like I’m going to work overtime tonight.

Ugh. I still want to go back to bed.

The article I’ve been reading is here. It basically says that the soy scare, like the other food scares (OMG milk gives you cancer!) is the result of medical journals being read by the general public and choosing what to repeat and bend the info to whatever the unqualified take away from it.

I’m going with the theory I use on everything: balance. I am sure soy is not good for you if you eat too much - but neither is anything else!!

**FCD **had a dentist appt, so we drove in separately today. I passed our troublesome computers to my coworker who makes them sing! He said he’d look at them tonight and let me know tomorrow.

We’ll be having a fambly dinner tonight, so I’ve got some tilapia thawing. Dunno what else I’ll make, but I’ll figure it out. I’m thinking rice will be one of the sides.

As **MamaTigs **said, it’s lovely and cool hereabouts. Definitely a hooky day, but I was dedicated and stayed at work. But I wanted to play hooky, dammit!

I decided, and my sweetie concurred, that when we go to the Annapolis Sailboat Show on Oct 11, we’re not coming home. We’re going to get a room somewhere and have the rest of the weekend to ourselves. Because we deserve it, dammit. I’m thinking somewhere on the Eastern Shore.

So, is it Firday yet?

I went to a niece’s wedding Saturday and encountered these two. No reason for their pictures being here, except that I like 'em. That’s pretty pointless.

Looking south, we see the north end of town. That road running diagonally on the left of the photo is West Main Street. (There’s also an East Main Street, on the other side of the railroad tracks, but I don’t have a photo of it.) Farther south along West Main Street, it’s easier to see the town’s commercial district on one side of the street, and the Union Pacific shops and rails along the other side of the street. Mueller’s, where I bought my range and sofa, and where I renew my driver’s license and vehicle registration. Across the street from Mueller’s, qu’elle surprise, trains!

This building used to be the Post Office, but is now the City Hall and police headquarters. Here’s the Post Office, where I just mailed a framed photo of mailboxes to my sister. Valle Ambulance, who’ve come to get me a couple of times when I had to call 911. I always send a thank you letter. The DeSoto Railroad Workers Memorial; the Missouri Pacific caboose is part of the display. Of *course *we have a tank! What kind of half-baked town doesn’t have a tank!? This one’s at the Amvets, watching over a memorial to the fallen and the local high school. The water tower. Our revival.

Orscheln’s, for clothing, hardware, chickens, you-name-it. Stopped for some parts to fix my wheelbarrow, my bill was $0.09. The bank I go to. When we say, “up at the traffic light”, this is it. Fish’s, where I get my gas and lottery tickets. Home of the nationally-famous naked dancing robber. One of my neighbors works there. Shank’s, where I get my vehicles repaired. The truck and I go grocery shopping at Wal-Mart. A few shots along the way home from the grocery store. This is the house at the end of the road. Home again. The Summer Palace (and winter, spring and autumn, too). The view out back (west), where lie the last earthly remains of Frank; the property around here is all called Frank’s Place on the records. A neighbor.

If you want, this is just a set of pictures of the view ahead when I went for a walk one day.

He slept. On e. For twenty minutes. Sigh. I didn’t realise how much I relied on afternoon nap to get anything done. He’s fussing whenever I move more than five feet away, so some of the groceries are still out, the stroller hasn’t been put away, and it might be a challenge getting dinner together, since Mr. Lissar will be in class, and won’t be home until right before class.
Oh, well. I have all tomorrow to tidy and clean.

Sort of.

I should do some baking for the baby shower, and some batch cooking. I’ll at least clear the table, and scrub the kitchen and bathroom.

BBBobbio FYI I was in a for real bricks and mortar place today. :stuck_out_tongue: Tomorrow is telecommute day as is Firday. Okay, sometimes, when I can swing it, I’ll throw in an extra day but usually its Wednesday and Firday.

rigs I put stuff I don’t know what to do with such as old blinds, furniture, weedwhackers, whatever out at the curb on trash day (which incidentally is tomorrow) and it always mysteriously disappears. I put it out the night before (trash is down at the road as I speak) and when I go to get the paper in the mornin’ it has disappeared! Okay, I pretty much know why cause I’ve seen the little man with the truck and trailer that drives around and picks stuff like that up. Hey, if he can do sump’n with/get sump’n out of it, more power to him.

Rebo take special note of the newest addition to my sigline.

The second link has been viewed by everyone in Casa de Spaz and declared Totally Cool.

Okay, I have a question for non-Southeast dwelling Ameridopers: Are you guys running out of gas too? I heard that Asheville ran out yesterday and now it’s moved down east. Of course I’m sitting on empty when this happens. So is this a nationwide thing or did the infrastructure decide to break down here first?

Is it can it be December yet?

I know, me too. But this time, nobody has taken it, so far. :frowning: I did call the garbage man and they will take the couch. I just think that someone will want the curtains–they’re not mildewy at all–we changed the color scheme in that room and they didn’t look right. Oh well–thing is, they are the only curtains (full length) and window treatment that I went to the professionals for. They cost a bundle when we got them. Hate to see it wasted, but if it is, so it is…

Dinner is done: pan fried chicken (I call it Italian chicken because I use Italian bread crumbs, garlic and Parmesan cheese to bread them) and rice and salad. FH cookies for dessert. Life is good.

Those are WAY COOL! And they must have taken the artist(s?) forever.
