Mystery Mafia -- Game Thread

You could have me target gnarlycharlie since he did get a guilty result and I’m the one pressing that he’s innocent and I’m also not the poisoner.

If I am the no-delay poisoner and charlie is guilty, woot the woot.
If I am a delay poisoner, that’s not likely because that means there are 2 poisoners.
If I am not the poisoner nothing happens to gnarly
If I am guilty you can figure that out with your cops. Tee hee.

And yet again, I disagree. Mahaloth was poisoned. He did not die from poisoning. Some of this comes from my reading of the previous game, where someone was poisoned and announced at dawn, and the holder of the antidote could save them the next night. If you did target Mahaloth, you could be the poisoner, and had a role that did nothing on N0, like most of us.

Intriguing.

Okay, I’ll buy that. Guess I’d better be more careful then.

Ummm I’ll be targeting DanceCat if yall don’t lynch this person.

That’s what I’ve always heard it called when you have a role as follows:

The player is town, and counts towards town for victory conditions. The player investigates as scum if investigated (the typical miller role). When the player dies, the mod death reveal claims they were scum.

in the other game there was a way to mess with investigations individually to make them come up wrong

In any case, please target Blaster or DanceCat tonight, as you suggest that the poisoner do. Or target some random player that you think might be scum. My suggestions would be Inner Stickler and lilflower, but I’m sure your mileage will vary.

I *would *have poisoned myself, too. Tsk tsk, pizza… What a maroon!

Hey, I could ask the “poisoner” to target DanceCat since I’m skeptical I’m the poisoner, and I’ll target Blaster if I am the poisoner, that way we can figure out which is the poisoner among us.

Good idea?

That’s if we don’t lynch DanceCat, of course.

I still think we should lynch one of DanceCat/Blaster today, and depending on the flip, poison the other, and I’ll target Silver Jan since I don’t think I’m the poisoner.

That will clear 2 suspects and resolve my status in one move.

Except that we have no idea how many people targeted Mahloth last night. Obviously more than you. It could have been 10 or 20 for all we know now. But yeah, if everyone else who targeted Mahaloth last night targeted Blaster tonight, we’d have a clue.

NETA: or the other way round. Ooops.

Okay, lynch DanceCat, “other” folks target Blaster, I target Silver Jan.

2 suspects down, leaves only one non-mason suspect.

We can quibble on the order; Dance first, Blaster first, or Jan first?

Also when did this become the TexCat and Pizza show?

Well, we can quibble all we want, but there are a lot of people not here. Also, I suggest that the results of the lynch might vary the night targets considerably.

I actually think that Jan was telling the truth with her results. I know her results were false, but I think she was honest in reporting them.

And now, the flip side-

If I’m wrong about the Dethy thing, then we still have no idea which of those 5 results we can trust.

Therefore there is still some weight behind the argument to lynch gnarlycharlie. Not that I agree with it.

Also, this sorta ignored my earlier advice to go based on scummy behavior and ignore the power roles; the only reason I’m even pursuing this is because under the Dethy setup, we have a 1 in 3 chance of hitting scum on this very lynch, and 2 in 3 chance of hitting scum between the lynch and the poisoner role, and a 3 in 3 chance of eliminating all suspects except the masons (which have a fairly solid claim) by tomorrow night. Then if you haven’t found one, you poison charlie.
[ul]
[li] So, if I’m right, you have a 2:3 chance of hitting scum in the next 24 game-hours. More realistically 2:5, but giving the masons the benefit of the doubt, you’ve got a 2:3 chance.[/li][/ul]

[ul]
[li]** If I’m wrong, you have a 4:5 chance of hitting scum in the next 48 game-hours.**[/li][/ul]

I don’t think that’s a bad hand to play, is it?
And yes, I agree that Jan is the least suspected among the 3 non-masons.

So like, if we have a good strategy no matter if this is Dethy or not, shouldn’t we pursue it?

If you nail a scum among Dance or Blaster, then lynching gnarly doesn’t even have to take place. You know that we have paranoid/insane cops in our midst, and you can have your OTHER cops scan him.

That saves you a lynch if he’s innocent, and makes him die anyway if he’s guilty. It’s having your cake and eating it too.

before i read the case against me,

that’s because he’s also not from this board.

HelloTimesFour Donk!

hello pwnsall!

as i said, he’s also not from this board.

I still recommend the strategy I’ve recommended since the beginning of this kerfuffle. Whoever targeted me last night(the real cop), target Gnarly tonight. Whoever thinks they might be a cop, target me. Everybody else target someone else who they think might be scum. I still recommend Inner Stickler and lilflower as scum.

I dunno, aren’t the results more useful if you scan a scumbag?

True cop finds the scum for us = a possibility
Naive cop finds out they are actually naive if they scan scum.
Paranoid cop finds out they’re paranoid because gnarly = guilty while innocent PLUS guilty reading guilty = paranoid cop
Insane cop targeting guilty = another innocent result, yielding:
[ul]
[li] True cop reading guilty[/li][li] Naive cop reading innocent[/li][li] Paranoid cop reading guilty[/li][li] Insane cop reading innocent[/li][li] Mafia cop lying to make it 3 versus 2.[/li][/ul]

Then when we lynch that suspect, we get what the TRUE RESULT was, helping establish which was which.

Isn’t that better? As such, you should NOT recommend being scanned by the cops if you’re innocent.

I have 2 minutes here, and still haven’t read most of the thread, but I saw some chithcat about cops. Has Texact said who she targeted last night? I thought that maybe I got the info about her because she targeted me/Hirka. The weird thing there being why would she do that when Hirka only had one post. But I don’t think it was neceassarily a cop peek of any variety that told me she is a mason.
