Mystery Mafia -- Game Thread

Silver Jan is probably an insane cop, and/or the wolves have a mason, and/or the wolves have a message sender. Impossible is nothing. I want to proceed as normal and lynch the wolfiest player.

you flipping Town doesn’t make Jan town and being town doesn’t make me scum.

also I am the lynch leader. i have been for about 18 hours now.

Hopelessly behind. u gib post number, please?

Sorry, have to comment:

You quoted it in post 2177.

  1. My recollection is that towards Day end something came up about you. So I targeted you to try and get some kind of information for Today.

  2. I was trying to avoid the most likely targets, to reduce the chance of too many people targeting the same subject.

I see that now. There’s enough crazy investigation results going around that this game is more of a clusterfuck than I had anticipated. ISTM that investigation results are not yet reliable.

Also I was working off an unofficial vote count. I see the official one has you in the lead. And I note on preview that brewha voted Jan into the tie.

AOP: Thanks Gad. You see how hopelessly behind I am? I go off and look up Jan’s and gnarly’s posts, I come back to reply to something, I’ve forgotten what I already posted and had to start over on Weedy’s information.

I have this for actions/results:

IdleThoughts got a message saying DanceCat is town.
Jan got a message saying gnarly is scum.
One of gnarly and TexCat targeted the other, both are masons.
ScubaBen got a message saying Jan is a town.
ETA: And Weedy says her message has TexCat as town and mason.

Anything else I’m missing? I’m skimming like nobody’s business even on the pages I’ve read.

My initial instinct is to believe a mason claim. And that probably if not entirely exonerates Jan as well (at least of mafia-hood), because of how little reward there would be for a mafioso to incriminate any single given townie even if they thought they could wiggle out of the consequences later. So I’m thinking “neither” on gnarly versus Jan.

I’m struggling to figure out how these messages even work. Take Scuba for instance: he targets gnarly but gets a message about Jan – how?

Gah, gnarlycharlie and SilverJan two people who, based on claims, both have better than average odds of being town are currently the vote leaders.

F-ing mind blowing. I know that there are some contradictions going on in that whole mess, but honestly one of them has been claimed as a mason for fucks sake.

I hate playing on catch up mode, and I don’t have a lot of analysis to bring to the table because I am not good unless I am in the mix…that said I want to lay down a vote.

People I am not voting for for any reason toDay:

Dancecat
Giraffe
gnarlycharlie
Idle Thoughts
lilflower
peekercpa
Silver Jan
TexCat

For a variety of different reasons and with a variety of confidence levels I believe all of the above players to be more likely town than scum.

This leaves…well a whole lot of people. But two that have caught my eye as being wrong are Special Ed and BlaM. I will do my best to go through and build real cases against each before Day ends. But for now I am voting with the BlaM wagon because it is more likely to take off and prevent the top two vote leaders from being VERY FOOLISHLY lynched.
Vote Blaster Master

Every choice he has made, so far, seems to run counter to what I think of as good play. Like I said I will be back with the specific posts that pinged me in a bit. I am not going to even try to keep up with the rest of what is going on, I am going to just focus on him and Ed and any startling new revelations the EoD may bring. I will be more on top of things ToMorrow assuming I survive.

Oh, add Weedy and Scuba Ben to my list of not voting for.

<snipped>

don’t mean dick. farck we’ve got one that got a wolfie result and yet the vote is elswhere.

Hugely annoying, though. Have the texts of the mason PMs been posted? Do they state “villager”?

The game is big enough that we can worry about scum masons later. Let us not forget it’s a possibility, but for the Day we should accept the claim at face value rather than accidentally lynching a mason.

Responding to BM responding to Drain Bead, just in case it got missed.

I have been told to submit two targets Tonight. I have inferred that I got a power boost. I won’t know until Tomorrow.

I think the best way to assess my inference is for whoever targeted me, target someone they consider reliable. Let’s see if anybody gets extra targets for the following Night.

Given everything that’s going on with investigations, I think the only thing we can conclude is that there are many crazy roles in this game.

AOP @ Normal Phase. If I’ve followed this correctly, gnarly targeted TexCat. Please don’t consider my memory reliable.

AOP2 @ peeker: I’m learning fast that in this game messages are currently of unknown reliability.

It would be nice to lynch someone who would give us the most information about the game setup. But failing that we have to return to analysis of who seems Scummiest given the game so far.

Doesn’t look like it’s happening, peeks.

I don’t know how the offboarder’s feel, but IMO lynching a mason is an order of magnitude worse than lynching a cop. An order of magnitude worse than POGers guys think a cop is worth.

And yea, the OP sayeth thus:

And the people saw it, and it was good.

ok. this one was a good one gad. got it figured out. heh heh, you are something else. aaaaaaaaaaa+++++++++++++++++++++++++.

We were mod confirmed to each other to be town. My N1 PM from Gad contained the full role descriptions of both gnarlycharlie and me. Both clearly said that we were villager.

Bolding and underlining mine.

TexCat claims e and gnarly are TOWN masons. Jan claims gnarly is Wolf.

Erk. Something gastard this way comes. :fist:

BTW, Normal Phase this clears up the uncertainty in your list: GC targeted TexCat.

And before anyone goes quoting some fool of an OP, this is borderline but I think unavoidable. I’m not a monster (well, technically I am). I will be as flexible as the game allows.* Assume that I am reading every post and that if something is said that merits a warning, a warning will be duly issued. Assume also that the rules of this game have been carefully designed to be fair and internally consistent for most values of both terms.

*There’s a Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead quote that’s apt here, but damned if I can find it.

Jesus, guys… I’m going to try to catch up, but… crap…

And I see I get yet another lazy vote. I like how you list all the other people involved with this mess of claims and yet apparently Giraffe got a read on me and I’m still fair game? I’d really like to see your posts because I think I have 3 votes now, one for what was a misunderstanding of a Night post, one that was just straight up lazy, and now one for not playing good.
