Why wouldn’t I target someone else first just to make sure I don’t have negative powers? I understand I have yet to make a good impression here, but I REALLY hope people don’t think I’m that bleepin stupid.
Nah, my townie points on Idle existed before that.
It’s not a waste of a lynch if the apothecary goes against my wishes and saves his life, and he was a wolf.
I shared my notes/thoughts.
No screenshots, obviously. But I doubt Astral would share anyway. He’s shot down all my ideas so far.
Well, that makes one of ya. ![]()
LIE
I got no such message; I was simply informed that the person I replaced targeted you.
I added the flavor of creeping around your bed, because obviously I was there but I didn’t kill you. Or poison you, it seems.
The wording was identical.
Yes I could. I am notorious for being lynched as townie because I look scummy, but surviving as mafia because I know exactly how to make sure there’s no possible case against me except random votes or night results with info.
But I don’t need to fake it this time, you guys are totally hitting the right spot. ![]()
So some conclusions I can make from this (very helpful post btw, lilflower):
ATPG’s night ability, probably poison, was ineffective on n0. The next two people he targets get poisoned (and a vig happened to have the same target n1). I don’t see what ATPG would stand to gain from lying to us about this if he were a wolf, so he is probably telling the truth and probably a poisoner. That’s almost as good as a vig so we should try to protect him at night as long as no evidence surfaces that makes us believe he might be lying about his role.
Scuba Ben may be a protector, since his target on n1 felt safe. Ed, did you get a message about feeling safe on n2?
Scuba Ben, did you get a message about feeling healthy or anything after Ed targeted you on n1?
Episkey looks like he is some sort of crier. It would explain why ATPG got that message, but we’re still not sure about why he got the wolf message about NAF.
I agree with pwnsall, that doesn’t seem to make sense. Why would wolves keep bussing each other if it gets their partners lynched but doesn’t clear themselves? Anyway if that’s really the case then it’s good that us “otherboarders” know that so we can look at voting records keeping in mind that the native group busses more often.
how do you noe dat
Also: I do not want protection at night.
What I want is the town “WATCHER” role to WATCH me every night to see who targets me.
On the night I am murdered, I want the names of everyone who targeted me.
I want NO ONE targeting me except the watcher. Even if I get re-directed, I want to know who did that. If I get murdered, kill that person.
That’s all.
NO DOCTORS.
Besides, I am not going to have a good suspect to kill every night. Dying for the town is one of my best moves here. If I bring down a scum too, that’s twice as good.
PLEASE HONOR MY REQUEST.
I wuv you.
Re: The embarassment/frustration thing, you may not have been embarrassed if you were put in my situation, but I was. I realized that my failure to read the rules completely had, in one post, made at least half the thread want to lynch me. I did not notice my mistake until several hours after it had happened, and by then plenty of people had already seemed to make up their minds. I just couldn’t deal with addressing it at that moment so I put it off until later in the night. I feel like I’ve said all that I can about what happened and I don’t want to keep beating a dead horse, but I also don’t want to just give up on defending myself so I’ll answer more questions about it if I have to.
In regards to your second paragraph, please allow me again to explain why I strongly think lynching brewha right now is a bad idea.
First of all, I’ll admit that I’ve never played with poison for and I can’t be 100% sure players die from poison. In spite of that, I think it is extremely likely that someone who is poisoned will eventually die from it if they are not healed in this or any other WW game. Otherwise, it is a meaningless aspect of the game and the poisoners/healers serve no real purpose. Remember, Gad said that everyone here gets a night ability and that all our abilities do something. I strongly believe it would be bad game design to have poison be harmless and I don’t think that is how Gad set up this game.
So from here on out I will assume that poison will eventually kill you. I will also assume that poison will kill you within 2 or 3 days tops (or else all poisonings that occur mid or late game would also be meaningless). Since we are still pretty early in the game, I think it is quite safe to assume that Brewha will always die from poison before the game can end unless he is healed.
As I’ve said before, IF he is healed by a different player at night while the consensus is still that he’s a wolf, he can be lynched then. If we find out who targeted him on the night he was healed, we can do even better and identify the wolf healer and lynch him too. The only situation where this wouldn’t apply is if Brewha himself is a healer. I have said that I think a wolf healer role is unlikely (that’s the point I was trying to make when I assumed there 9 wolves to start the game), but it’s possible and if Brewha is healed it means there likely is one.
Here is a somewhat simple example where killing the poisoned player who is a known wolf but will die of poison before the game ends is bad for the village (I am not saying brewha is a confirmed wolf, this is just an example).
Suppose there are 3 seer-cleared villagers, 1 poisoned wolf, and 2 uncleared players, one of whom is a wolf. If the villagers lynch the known wolf first, the remaining wolf will kill a cleared villager and the next day there will be 2 clear villagers and 2 uncleared players, 1 of whom is a wolf. The uncleared players will vote for each other and the cleared villagers will have to pick one of them to lynch. If they pick wrong, the wolves reach parity and win the game.
Now go back to 3 seer-cleared villagers, 1 poisoned wolf, and 2 uncleared players again. This time, the villagers decide to lynch one of the uncleared players, and the wolf dies at night from poison. If the village guessed right and lynched the last wolf, they win right away. If they lynched a villager, they will have 2 clear villagers and 1 uncleared player who by process of elimination must be the wolf. The clear villagers both vote for the wolf and the village wins. In this instance, the village turned the game into a lock by not lynching the known wolf.
In the prior instance, the village “wasted” their first lynch by not resolving the uncleared players. Although they could be guaranteed to lynch a wolf on the first night, they give themselves the best chance to win the game by lynching one of the uncleared players instead. This is true even when they lynch a villager.
If the above example is not clear, please let me know which part I need to explain in more detail.
My argument not to lynch Brewha has nothing to do with my view on Brewha himself. Whether I think he is 100% wolf or 100% villager, I still think it is a mistake to lynch him while he’s poisoned when we can reasonably expect the poison to kill him on its own.
I will also point out that, if both Brewha and I are wolves, I wouldn’t be doing myself any favors by defending Brewha here. Either he is lynched and flips wolf which makes me look bad, or he dies at night and flips wolf which also makes me look bad. I don’t expect to be given credit for defending him if he flips villager, and likewise I don’t think I deserve blame if he flips wolf. My argument is strictly based on game theory.
I just feel that the apothecary, due to literally nothing else to do, is going to cure brewha.
Then, I’m just going to have to keep voting for him and poisoning him when that action becomes available to me.
If he’s a wolf, then this is extremely counterproductive. If he’s townie, that’s a shame, but it will also be a shame if I have to keep focusing on him because he’s not lynched or dead, that renders me less effective as well.
Do you think the apothecary is going to heal brewha because they are bored and don’t have anything better to do?
I have no idea. But if I were an apothecary and I had no one to heal besides brewha, I’d heal brewha just to make sure that’s what I can do, plus prove that’s what I was doing that night.
I’d play in such a way as an apothecary that I’d disagree with right now as a poisoner, because the shoe would be on the other foot. However I have no idea what the apothecary’s alignment or intentions are. I just feel that, given the option to heal brewha, they will.
I don’t think a villager apothecary would be interested in healing a potential wolf just so that they have something to do. But if you disagree and are afraid the healer with cure brewha, here is what I propose.
-
Make a case for why brewha is probably a wolf.
-
Organize a group of players who agree that brewha is probably a wolf and needs to die.
-
Get those people to announce that if brewha is cured, he will be turbo-lynched the next day.
-
Furthermore, if brewha flips wolf and it is revealed who was responsible for curing him, that person will be turbo-lynched next.
This should be disincentive enough to prevent any townie healers from targeting brewha. If a wolf healer is bold enough to try saving brewha anyway and gets caught, we might get two lynch two wolves for the price of one.
If you find that to be too much work, I really don’t think a healer will risk themselves trying to heal Brewha tonight anyway considering how much heat he’s getting. And if he does get healed, the option to lynch is still on the table.
Anyway, it’s stupid late on the east coast so I’m going to sleep.
Hi, my name is Askthepizzaguy.
Meant to post this earlier but I never hit submit. Gnight.
No apologies necessary, this is a game and I realize I made a very bad slip (or goof, if you’d prefer).
This is the first game of WW I’ve ever played where the OP did not state the number of wolves in the game. I’ve only known of games where the number of wolves is common info, except for maybe some of the more complex mish mashes. It’s fair to call this game a complex mish mash, but it’s the first one I’ve played.
You say it’s weird to know how many wolves there are, but to me it seems weird not to know how many wolves there are. Here, we won’t know when we’ve won until Gad tells us or the wolves concede. I’m also used to having “must lynch” when the village is in a situation where it NEEDS to lynch a wolf that day or else it loses. Since we don’t know how many wolves there are, I guess we won’t know when we’re in a must lynch situation.
I tried my best to explain exactly what happened and what I was thinking.
Lol, nice to meet you. I should’ve realized I was talking to the guy who’s written a novel between all his posts in this thread. Talk to you tomorrow.
Highlights from Scathach’s posts:
Talking about peeker being more restrained as a scum tell:
This looks like smudging peeker to me. The first two posts make it sound like she knows peeker has this tell, but it turns out she’s never played with him. Helps to push the case against Peeker for no reason.
More reasoning against Dancecat.
Backs off Dancecat after Idle reveals his message (I forgot to quote that post).
me too vote on Scuba_Ben, the 5th vote on him
Repeating the case on Scuba_Ben
Don’t like this vote to lynch a mason, but it was a disturbingly popular idea at one point yesterday. This was after I had posted to support Texcat, for context. She doesn’t let go of the case on Ben, which could be either scum or town. Gnarly has around 7-8 votes, Silver Jan has 4.
unvotes gnarlycharlie 12 minutes later.
30 minutes and some discussion later
14 hours and more discussion later.
Weird phrasing, why even mention Blaster?
In summary, she did move her vote around a lot, but most of that was inside an hour or so while she was reading and discussing the mason claims. She was 5th on the Inner wagon when Blaster had 8 votes.
Today she has voted for sangaman, discussed poisoners (she may be the apothecary), and explained her vote.
I was hoping to find something more definitely suspicious or the opposite, but I’m still up in the air. I don’t like the peeker smudge, but it’s not enough to vote for her and I am OK with her votes yesterday.
Oops, posted a comment inside the quote tag. Should read
Her Day 1 vote. I didn’t understand Dancecat’s whole argument here about Krayz being seer, so maybe Scathach didn’t either, seeing she says Dancecat is smudging him.
