… targeting yourself last night was smart. …If you did NOT target yourself last night, that is still an option - it should reveal what your night action is in a lot of cases.

Has this been explained? Why would self-targeting be more revealing than other-targeting? It doesn’t seem very likely that MykBot is Scum trying to trick Town Vigs into killing themselves, but it’s likely enough for a Day vote. (I realize that MykBot later retracted this partially, but that just makes the original advice more suspicious.)

Ok. I think that Krayz has been wolfy. However, the peek he left is one that I know for a fact is correct, since I know my own role. If he had left a peek/breadcrumb/whatever of any other player, my suspicions would remain largely unchecked since I couldn’t personally verify whether or not the peek was good. But I can, so it gives me pause. Of course, he could be scum and have perfect information about my affiliation, and he made that fakepeek/breadcrumb because he knew I would react like that and be less likely to vote him because of it, so it then becomes a bit of a levelling game. I think you guys call it WIFOM. And of course, if he is scum, players might be more likely to incorrectly think that we are teammates and he was defending me. Make sense?

Despite admittedly realising it’s more likely he’s just scum and has perfect information? Or that he’s just doing this whole “fakepeek” thing. There’s a third possibility. Krayz and Dancecat might be masons that have to spot another mason to find out. In other words, a mason may need to target another mason to identify that player as a mason.

Dancecat, I suggest you consider the usefulness of targeting Krayz Tonight or the next Night. If masonry exists in this game and works kinda like I’m guessing (and taking from a post a few pages back), it would be worth knowing at some point.

Yeah. Which essentially negates his unvote, as there’s still a chance Krayz could die in a tie, but he can point to his unvote and attempt to absolve himself of liability if Krayz dies in the tiebreaker and turns up Town.

If Krayz is Scum, though, I’m actually going to lean Town on Ben. His initial vote which caused the first tie would have been way too dangerous at that point. That vote could have caused a major wagon to pick up steam. It’s possible it was a bus–hell, I’ve done a hardcore Day One bus of a teammate as Scum before–but with nobody really getting too much traction in terms of voting wagons, it seems like a dangerous and unnecessary gambit to bus someone right now.

Wow, this game is going really fast, it’s taken me a few hours to read.

Peeker does seem to have changed his game-play since he was called out on it In fact so much so that I could imagine him jumping up and down and saying “NO, no, don’t vote for me yet”

Didn’t peeker explain that he was acting differently - by that I mean non-confrontational - mainly because he didn’t want to offend any of the new people the first day?

It’s a similar reasoning to dancecat’s “not wanting to ruffle feathers thing”.

That’s a pretty solid reason imo. I’m curious why you didn’t mention this when discussing the posting style change?

I’m okay with his explanation, especially combined with Scathach’s statement that he meant in this game as well. I don’t necessarily think peeker is capable of changing his playstyle in any real way, mind you…he is perfectly well aware of what gets him lynched.

Seriously, he has been a Day One lynch in almost every game I’ve been in with him. At this point, a Day One peeker lynch is a big blaring null-tell because he’s an easy target. Not sure what to think of given that a good portion of the players in this game aren’t used to him. This is in no way a defense of him–I think the initial case against him isn’t the greatest, and I hate metagaming peeker because he’s the proverbial loose cannon, but his defense is raising my hackles. I need to do a reread of prior games he’s been lynched in before–I seem to recall this behavior happening before, but I don’t know if he was Town or Scum. My guess is that I’m going to find examples of both.

Can someone confirm the orange is true?

Before I look more in-depth at peeker, I wanted to make a vote that I might end up moving later, just to get my suspicions on record.

Mainly for his series of posts between 426-439 (I hope I’m getting those numbers right). Noises up the thread, doesn’t provide any reasoning or analysis for any of his multiple smudges (or soft exoneration of peeker and giraffe), and generally giving us nothing to go on other than “lolwolf.”

We now have a four-way tie. I really hope we don’t end up with a lynch being left up to a random choice. I’m also thinking someone in that bunch must be scum and his/her scumbuddies are trying to save him/her. Right? Isn’t that the common theory on bandwagons? If we have one that was a total runaway, it’s likely a townie getting lynched. But all this close voting makes me think the scum are trying to get a competing bandwagon going. If I’m wrong, I’d appreciate someone enlightening me (I’m trying to remember a recent conversation on bandwagons in another game).

Septimus, many night actions return results either to the person who did it, or the person on the receiving end. If you target yourself, you can’t hurt anyone else in the village and you might learn what your night action is. That’s why you do it on night 0.

Honestly this is the result of having already played this setup once, it’s just the best way to uncover your ability.

That said, I had been toying with voting for Krayonz myself

Since I was actually on the peeker bandwagon (maybe even started it, can’t remember if Giraffe was first) It’s not that.

My initial vote on Peeker was to gauge his reaction. He hasn’t really given me a solid Scum feel in his reaction, but, I’m stil suspicious.

Silver Jan, however, has come in, and basically said:

1. Oh my, there’s so much
2. Commented only on peeker
3. Cast an easy me too vote pushing him farther into the lead.

So, it just seems like a lazy and easy thing to do. Something a Scum might do.

This is along the lines of my thought as well. The fact Jan ignored Peeker’s stated reasons for posting differently and then votes him isn’t good.
