Mystery Mafia -- Game Thread

What’s an FPS and w/w?

Fancy Play Syndrome, and wolf/wolf. Meaning this interaction wasn’t staged (which would be a fancy play), thus we aren’t both scum.

Do wolves often append “this is FPS and we are w/w.” in your games?

Also a term you guys should know: Dead Air, Dead village.

When the village interaction dies out at the end of the day, it’s usually indicative that a villager is the lead wagon.

FPS and w/w are both very commonly used and w/w interactions are sometimes staged, although probably not to the extent here.

Remind me to tell you about the Ed and Meeko Show some time.

It was awesome.

Feel free to sometime over night, imo.

The last time I remember a staged scum spat was in Conspiracy between special ed and meeko. It led to meeko being lynched and Ed being NKed. But I think they’ve been effective in the past. My point is that if it were FPS and you were w/w together you would absolutely say, “this is obviously not FPS and we’re not w/w”

Closing thoughts for the day:

  • I don’t like the Krayz wagon, but I don’t like Krayz’s style either.
  • My vote is mine, and there is value (IMMENSE value) in seeing who voluntarily changes votes when. I’ve caught more than one scum through vote timing analysis.
  • Putting another player in the game on ignore is poor fucking form.
  • This is not currently relevant, but I reiterate that I reserve the right to vote for players who are acting against the best interests of town. Anti-Town = Pro-Scum. That includes things like lynching liars, disruptive play, and the like.

And I reiterate, if I’m seer, then NAF is townie.

i really think toNight would be a good time to discuss the various strategies that are employed on each board. crud most of the “others” make everyone but myself look like a cretin (especially naf, giraffe and ed). i kind of like and dislike the whole fake dick result thingamabob. knee jerk reaction is that it is probably about neutral. but the “others” put a whole lot of value on a dick while the other others kind of go meh. i’d really like to understand the reasoning behind that. plus they play at such a much more frantic pace than we do. does that contribute to strategy? methinks it does. plus we seem to focus so much on getting scum while they seem to be focused on identifying town. i feel like rounding the cape of good horn for the first time.

If I’m the seer, Zeriel’s a ham on rye.

(I need to start making dinner.)

A) As the players from the other board can attest, I have never, ever FPS’d.

B) Even if I did, the point of an FPS wouldn’t be to make a fancy play and then point it out as possibly that

C) You cannot say, to any degree, how likely I would have pointed out my FPS if I was a wolf. You have never played with me before.

well i got it from your mother.

totally meant to capslock that

FIVE MINUTES TO END OF DAY

Looking at the top candidates and paraphrasing the reasons given for voting them:

Krayz (7):
Drain Bead [489] - for his multiple smudges and soft clears
Meeko/sangaman [493] - for not playing the game, being pretentious
Mahaloth [540] - he’s pinging him
Idle Thoughts [706] - for not contributing but making accusations without reasoning, for his off behavior
LightFoot [717] - for not responding to his questions about his posts
Scuba_Ben [736] - initially for his smudges, later for his smudges again
Precambrianmollusc [771] - the smudges

TexCat (5):
Inner Stickler [473] - for voting someone for having a bad idea
lilflower [494] - for misreading MykBot’s post and a lazy vote for a bad idea
MykBot [586] - for misrepresenting his posts
gnarlycharlie [636] - for her vote on MykBot, opportunistic
Normal Phase [739] - for misrepresenting MykBot’s posts

Silver Jan (5):
special ed [487] - for her vote on Peeker, lazy and easy
DanceCat [513] - same reasons as Special Ed
Episkey [617] - same reasons as Special Ed, for ignoring Peeker’s reasons for not being himself
bufftabby [795] - for lack of content and opportunistic vote
blastermaster[820] - for a me too vote, best of top candidates

peekercpa (4):
Giraffe [301] - opportunistic voting
NAF1138 [337] - not being antagonistic
Silver Jan [484] - for changing his play style since getting 3 votes
crackedquads [743] - best of the lynch candidates, suspects scum backed off earlier wagon

I’m not swayed. I’d vote Maha as an alternative to Scatach.

So we have what is it now, 4-5 players who are admitting in thread to not liking the krayz wagon but they’ll just let him die. You guys could vote for the 2nd or 3rd wagon and save who you think is a villager, but instead you’ll just let him die.

Good to know you think the lead wagon is a villager but you won’t do anything to save him yourself or persuade others to do so.

Also, we play the game to have fun. If cracked quads has more fun with peeker on ignore then more power to him. But if, you know, peeker doesn’t die right away, cracked quads may have difficulty. I’m certainly not going to quote alll peeker’s posts to make sure CQ sees them.

LightFoot is a she.

I agree, I play to have fun. When peeker is harassing me, I am not having fun. Thus, peeker is on ignore.

** Guiri ** You’[ve paraphrased quite heavily there
