Howdy fellow Dopers,
I am getting a new baby kitty in less than two weeks and I cannot for the life of me come up with any names I really like. The problem is this; I already have three cats, so I don’t want babykitty’s name to sound to similar to thiers. Other cats names are Scooter, Denali & Guinness. So no S, D or G names or names that sound similar to the other kitties names.
Okay, here was my idea… you suggest names for new babykitty and if I pick one, I will send you a prize of some sort (If you would like). Maybe a Las Vegas souviner?
babykitty is female, with tortoise-shell coloring and blue-green eyes and she is the smallest of the litter and so far very, very quiet (as compared to her littermates)
Help me out with your wonderful creativity
*I will post a pic when I get home, as they are on my home 'puter
A tortie? You do realize you are getting a genetically psycho cat, right? My first kitty was a tortie, and I thought it was just her. Two years at a vet clinic proved me wrong. Not to say I didn’t love her, but she was nuts!!
Lemme see some pictures before I try to come up with a name …
Ditto on the mental illness inherent in the tortoise shell. Mine’s whacked. Her name is Echo. We love her. You can have the name if you’d like, as we’re in Chicago, so I don’t think there’d be any confusion when we call them.
What’s her voice like? How about “Prrt?” as a name. (I suppose you could add the vowel and spell it Pert, they sound similar enough.) It’s that inquisitive almost chirping purr some cats use when they think you have a treat for them, or when you call them. Their “Yes, what is it you want?” sound.
Mamacat is a tortie too- and she is nutty. Babykitty, doesn’t make much noise, yet. Although she will just pounce on her littermates (even though they are bigger than her) and beat them up
Oh here is a pic (not a great one) of babykitty, but at 4 weeks old. So she is obviously bigger than in this pic and looks less like some sort of bat creature now than she does here. Now that she is getting older, her coloring is becoming more distinct I will post a better picture of her later tonight.
Don’t worry about trying to name her till she comes home. The right name will come to you soon enough then. Besides, if you name her now, you’ll just wind up renaming her later, or calling her by some totally unrelated nickname. It always happens with prenamed animals. That’s how Lamaga became Margaret or Moo, depending on my mood and her behavior at the moment.
Depending on how densely patterned she is, Freckles might work for her.
Yahoo won’t let me see the picture, even though I logged in. Can you host it elsewhere? This place offers free photo hosting for example. So does this place.
Heh…don’t take this the wrong way, but in that picture, she looks like a Gollum! Creeping up, peering over the cliff at Frodo, “Preciouss, yesss, we shall have it!”
