D’oh! :smack: The Song is “Country Roads”. It’s one of those songs I always have to sing to myself through to the chorus before I remember the correct title.
Oh and while I’m here I’ll add “Sugar, Sugar” by The Archies.

Anything by Tony Orlando & Dawn before Tie a Yellow Ribbon.
Brandy (you’re a fine girl)
I am sixteen, you are seventeen from The Sound of Music.
Juice Newton - Playing with the Queen of Hearts
“Yeah” by Usher.
Now that might not seem too embarrassing, seeing as how it’s a popular current tune, but seeing as how my musical tastes ordinarily run to classic rock and cheezy old seventies and eighties stuff… :o
The kids know my secret because they noticed that I stop for it when I run across it on the car radio. I reminded them that Mother knows embarrassing stuff about them too!
“Heart & Soul” by T’Pau.
All my guilty pleasure songs are pretty much 80’s one hit wonders. Speaking of which, I feel a thread coming on…
Okay - let’s get one thing straight:
Baby Got Back is not a guilty pleasure!!!
It is (arguably) politically incorrect - but the song flat-out rocks. Listen to it with pride - although not around your 4-year-old daughter…
That is all.
Oh, and my guilty pleasure is “Brandy” by Looking Glass - Brandy, you’re a fine girl, what a good wife you would be - but my life, my love and my lady is the sea…
As a fan of hard rock, there are several songs in my MP3 list that are incongruent with my usual tastes:
10CC - I’m Not in Love
Blessid Union Of Souls - I Believe
Bread- If
Bread- Make It With You
Kate Bush - Running Up That Hill
Dream Academy - Life in a Northern Town
Al Green - Aint No Sunshine When She’s Gone
Benny Mardonis- Into The Night
Michael Martin Murphy - Wildfire
Seals and Crofts - Summer Breeze
Spanky & Our Gang - I’d Like To Get To Know You
Sting - Fragile
Barbara Streisand - The Way We Were
Barbra Streisand - Somewhere
Depends. If it’s the version with the awful "Ooga Chuacka"s (made famous by the dancing baby), then it’s Blue Suede. The original, much less obnoxious version, was done by B.J. Thomas.
Just out of curiosity, is there any kind of consensus on what defines a guilty pleasure song? Does it actually have to be a song that’s really bad but that you like anyway, or just one that the arbiters of musical trendiness (whoever the heck they are) have decided is uncool?
Celine Dion. It’s All Coming Back to Me Now.
I think she has a beautiful voice. So there.
That would need about 3 bus transfers and a cab to be even in the neighborhood of right, but that’s another thread.
As to the OP, Chuck Mangione’s “Feels So Good”.
Heheeh. When I read the title to your post I was thinking “Oh god, that would definitely be “Sailing” by Christopher Cross” funny that it’s yours too.
I’ve told no one by the way. So, shhhhhh!
APC is to Tool what a butterknife is to a chainsaw
“Downtown” and “Don’t Sleep In The Subway” - both by Petula Clark.
and also,
“Take On Me” - A-ha.
Yeah, it’s got the Ooga Chucka’s but once you get past them it’s a good song.
You mean the song that makes me bawl like a little girl?
This may require some background: when I was in fourth grade in California, we had the absolute coolest teacher ever. Her name was Patti Sauers, and her classes were positively the most fun I ever had when I was in school. Possibly because she bribed us with candy, of course, but we EARNED that candy with good grades.
She died over Easter weekend while we were in her class. She was a big Muppet fan and dressed as Miss Piggy for Halloween. Her funeral was…uplifting, really, and very beautiful. The whole class went, and in lieu of, say, a hymn or something, we all sang Rainbow Connection and released balloons into the sky.
To this day that song makes me tear up. Just thinking about it makes me tear up now.
Yup, Thomas did the original, the cover though was by Blue Swede (pronounced “sweed”)
Did I mentioned I have all of Patty Duke’s albums?
What she lacks in talent, she makes up for with enthusiasm.
Oops. :smack:
Thanks for the correction.
Styx’s “Come Sail Away”
Oh yeah! Several that have already been mentioned, and my submissions:
The Beach Boys- Kokomo
Rick Astley- Never Gonna Give You Up
Lots of Barry Manilow but especially Copacabana
I know there are more. . .
