South Street isn’t all seafood. They’ve got vegetarian food, ribs, some southwest style food and they’ve got a filet stuffed with blue cheese that’s as close as food get’s to sex, lemme tell you. <insert massive Homer Simpson drooling noises>
I might could make this one.
Let me check with my agent.
I might try to make this one too (Knoxville, here). I could bring my Sophie too, but since she is but 10 months old, probably not.
Did you just move here? My wife and I welcome!
Interesting… in this thread I’ve “met” two Tennesseans, one named the same as my daughter (Sophia, the most beautiful baby ever - there’s even scientific proof ) and one (almost) named the same as my wife (Laura). Small world…
The sports bar seems ok, but a “jock joint”? For a pack of intellectuals (or at least pseudo-intellectuals)?
But it’s OK by me, if everyone else says so.
Too bad Senachie just went bust.
We could meet at the Parthenon. Both pretentious and cheesy: perfect for us Dopers.
I can clear you on this. Hope you can make it!
I’ve been here for just at a week now, although I am originally from Chattanooga and lived there, Murfreesboro and Nashville before heading down to Mississippi and then over to Atlanta.
Are you in Knoxville? I know there are a few Knoxville folks around - if we were lucky, we might be able to get them together.
And my name really is Laura. I just have horrid penmanship and my friends used to laugh and say I couldn’t even spell my own name…that it looked like I was writing Lsura. :o
And I’m not going to make it to Nashville this time, and that’s a guarantee. Between orientations and (still) trying to find an acceptable job (no, I haven’t put that much effort into it yet!), I can’t make the drive over there.
:smack:
That’ll teach me to read all the new posts before I post. If I’d looked at the one right before the one I quoted, I’d have seen that yes, you are in Knoxville.
My company has PT and FT positions available in our verification department, Lsura. Day and night shifts available, phone work but no selling (you’ll be verifying the delivery of phone books). We are at the corner of the Pellissippi Pkwy and Kingston Pike in W. Knoxville, in the same complex as the drivers license office.
I have no idea if this is the sort of thing you’re looking for, but you did mention looking for a job, so…
Email me @ JohnT15@bellsouth.net if you’re interested.
A bump up to remind everyone that tomorrow’s the deadline for voting. So far, it looks like it’s Sam’s, based on the number of responses.
Here’s some information on Sam’s Place, including address, etc.
No reservations taken though. Do y’all think that’ll matter?
Shouldn’t be a problem. The 24th is before college football starts, shouldn’t be to packed. You just kinda grab a table or area, it’s pretty much seat yourself.
So Sam’s it is. Okay, now we need to settle on a time. Say 2 PM CDT? That work for everyone, or do we need it to be different?
Time and day.
State it explicitly, or somebody, read “me”, will be there on the wrong day.
Date was Saturday, August 24th. I was personally hoping for a little later in the day, since my daughter will have a soccer game sometime that day, and then I’d have to get down there from Cincinnati, which is gonna be about 5 hours IIRC. But if you go with daytime that’s cool, I’ll just try to catch the next one. At least I get an hour break on the Central vs Eastern thing.
Shib, it can be later. I just threw out 2 PM as a suggested time to get people’s reactions.
[aside]Cincy, huh? I grew up just outside of Columbus, think it’s safe for two Ohioians to get together with all these “Sutherners” about? [/aside]
Feh, I’m a Californian/Floridian* transplanted to the Midwest. But we can discuss Skyline and Graeters if you like.
*Born in California, grew up around the country, came of age in Florida.
Luckily, for this transplanted Kentuckian, I’ll be enjoying some wonderful Gold Star Chili this weekend at the Red’s game. None of that crappy Graeters stuff though.
diku, we’re having a Dopefest in Cincinnati this weekend; if you’re here anyway, maybe you could stop by.
