Nashvegas Dope '02 Anyone?

Really?

Q

Surprise, surprise, the New Library’s a pretty sophisticated place from what I understand. I know the guy who cast the decorations for the massive front door and they’re pretty impressive to say the least.

the new libray has a coffee shop/sandwich joint, which is way too pricey.

But otherwise, it looks like an art museum.

I’ve only ever been to a couple of other Dopefests, but wouldn’t we be getting “shooshed” all the time if we were in a library/museum sort of setting?

Hey, Provence is good down there at the library, well worth the money. We should go someplace where someone can get a drink if they want.

I thought perhaps The New Main Library was one of those cutesy names for a bar or restaurant, as in The Office.

You know, “Honey, I’ll be working late at The Office tonight.”**

Since I’ve never been to one of these things, I’ll just let y’all do the planning , okay?

When ya’ll decide where it’s going to be, I’m going to need very detailed directions. I rarely venture outside hillbilly hollow.

Man, this is weird. I’m going to be in Nashville on the 10th. Keep me posted ok? I’d like to meet some of y’all.

Dang…I just finally read the rest of the Thread…o well…the tenth is out. Maybe next time!

That won’t be a problem. If you like, you and I could meet up in Wal-Mart’s parking lot or something and you can follow me to where ever it is.

Okay, since no one’s posted any other suggestions for a meeting place, our choices are:
diku’s
Hooters
The New Main Library
Bongo Java
Cafe Coco
South Street
and Sam’s Place

Let’s hear some opinions folks, yea’s/nays or maybe’s! Otherwise, I’ll have hillbilly’s squirrels randomly pick one for us!

Come on, folks! Let’s hear some responses! Ya’ll got 'till Monday the 12th, or I’m turning it over to hillbilly’s squirrels! (I’m not kidding! I’ve got it figured out how we can get them to choose for us, and if ya’ll make 'em pick it for us, I’m gonna change the name from Nashvegas Dopefest to Treerat Dopefest in Nashvegas!)[Ren Hoeck]Don’t make me use this![/RH]

Ok, I got’s no real response, except that they all seem like fine places, and since I know nothing about Nashville it’s all the same to me. I don’t even understand the quibble about the NW and NE being so far apart (how big is this town?)

Not very big. The problem is that they don’t know how to make a highway a straight shot in this town. So if you’re in the wrong part of the state and one to get somewhere, you have to drive waaaaay out of your way to get where it is you want to go (unless, of course, you like driving two lane roads that are clogged with farmers on their tractors).

I’m reluctant to take a stand on this. I made a Horse’s Patootie out of myself the last time. :o

Well, I wasn’t going to say anything because I’m still not sure if I’ll be able to make it. (Depending on the time, I’ll hafta convince the boss to work part of Saturday instead of me  ) But I’d veer towards Cafe Coco or the Library merely on the basis that I can get to either one by bus and I know where they are.

Well, I’m all for Sam’s Place or Cafe Coco, just because we’d have more room. Plus, I’d have to clean my place

Okay, for folks unfamiliar with the various places nominated, I’ve gone and found some reviews of the places ('cept for diku’s and Hooters)

Cafe Coco
Bongo Java
South Street

Damn!

Sam’s Place

I say Sam’s Place looks like a winner–they have the most varied menu, too. Bongo Java says they don’t accomodate groups well, and I’m not into an all seafood place like South Street, but this is all just my opinion.

Anyhoo–a big vote for Sam’s.
