Nashville Dopefest 18 Aug 2007

If we wait until the weather is better, we could do something outside, which would make it easier to mingle and to hear each other.

Autumn…outside…campfire (or fire bowl). Middle Tennessee has some great outdoor recreation areas…state and city parks or Army Corps of Engineers areas. We would at least be able to hear one another and there would be room for everyone and a place to stay overnight if you bring a tent.

I’m all for a state or city park with a shelter and some tables. How does October or November sound as a first stab at a when?

Sounds good to me!

I’ll have a tent if I’m not on call!

Parthenon Park?

That’s not too far from where we met last week so directions to those who might need them would be easy. I think the tables and shelters are fairly popular and I don’t know how long ahead we could get reservations (if at all) but maybe that’s worth a call to see.

Other parks to consider (besides Centennial/Parthenon):

Edwin Warner
Percy Warner
Long Hunter State Park
Shelby Park
I know there are still others but I don’t have personal experience with them.

The Warner Parks may be a little far for people on the east side of town, where Shelby and Long Hunter (and maybe even Cedars of Lebanon) would suit better for the Boro crowd and others in that sector.

Just ideas…

There’s Four Corners boat dock on the lake near the Rutherford Co. line. There are tables and pavilions and grills plus the lake. And it’s not over-used. It would be relatively close for we Rutherford Countians.

StG

Cedars of Lebanon or Four corners sound good to me. For those who may camp for the whole weekend, Cedars has hiking trails, pools, horse trails, etc.

Already I’m leaning towards an Eastern Davidson to Western Wilson/Rutherford vicinity for the convenience of a good-sized group of Dopers. Just for reaction’s sake, how many would find that area less accessible or more inconvenent?

Just as a for-instance, please rank 1, 2, and 3 (1 = high):

– Cedars of Lebanon State Park
– Long Hunter State Park
– Priest Lake picnic area(s)
– Old Hickory Lake picnic area(s)
– Shelby Park
– Centennial (Parthenon) Park
– Warner Park(s)
– Other Middle TN public park or recreational area (please specify)

Oh, wow! I’m glad I found this. Yep, my vote is always for someplace outside. Centennial is always good, and very central. Now, I would be happy to do that at high noon right now, but I’m weird that way; most people would likely prefer to wait until it’s cooler.

Cedars of Lebanon - 1 (5 miles from my front door)
Long Hunter - 2
The rest - 3

How about the Stones River National Battlefield?

Dammit! Why oh why did I have to work THAT Saturday? I started the dang thread and then couldn’t even make it. I would like to do the outdoor Dopefest in october/November, but I am out of pocket the last week in October. Hope to meet some of you there.

Any of those sound good to us, as does an October/November time frame. Fall can’t come soon enough.

I can do all but the weekend of 06 Oct and Thanksgiving.

My preference is Nov/3.
