National Day of PRAYER and Rememberance

Person 1: “We should have a National Day of Prayer and Remembrance for the victims of the hurricane, so that people will remember them and keep them in their thoughts and hearts, and perhaps even their prayers. Hopefully this symbolic gesture will encourage others to reach out and help, with their time and resources, as well.”
Person 2: “No, we can’t utter the word ‘prayer’! Don’t force your religion on me!”
Person 3: “How about National Day of Prayer and/or Remembrance?”
Person 2: “You said ‘prayer’!”
Person 3: “So what?”
Person 2: “You’re forcing your religion on me!”
Person 1: “Don’t force your atheism on me!”
Person 3: "How about the National Day of Prayer If You Believe In That Sort Of Thing But You Don’t Have To And It’s Okay, Cursing God If You Think That’s More Appropriate, Thinking About The Victims And Hoping They Get Out Safe, and/or Remembrance, But All Of It Is Totally Voluntary So You Don’t Really Have To Do Anything If You Don’t Want To Because We Are Really Not Trying To Abridge Any Of Your Constitutional Freedoms
Person 4: “It’s a violation of the Constitution!”
Person 5 1/2: “Have you even read the Constitution?”
Person 6: “Stupid Republicans!”
Person 7: “Stupid Democrats!”
Person 8: “Stupid agnostics, can’t make up their frickin minds!”
Person 9: “Stupid people who think my side is stupid!”

Hurricane Victim 1: “I think they forgot us…”
Hurricane Victim 2: “I’m thirsty.”

Person 12: “I thought we were the Judean People’s Front…?”
Person 13: “No, we’re the People’s Front of Judea!!!” :::muttering incredulously::: “Judean People’s Front…!”

Person 2: “Do you want that to be instituted by some large group, such as the Salvation Army, or maybe the YMCA?”
Person 1: “No, I want it to be started by the president”
Person 2: Why not start a web page, encouraging others to do this on a certain date, at a certain place, rather then the president. After all, if a large crowd decides to march around praying, I have no problem with it, but getting the president to do it would be endorsing Christianity, judging from the fact of all those leaflet you are carrying.
Person 1: No, I want the president to make it official.
Person : “Well, that ain’t right”
Person 1:Why? I just want to endorse prayerfullness.
Person 2:Bull. Everytime I hear this, it turns into a rah-rah fest for Christians

[My Blue Heaven]
Hannah Stubbs: I am not happy about this!
Barney Coopersmith: Lady, it’s Justice Department policy!
Hannay: Well, they’re wrong. They’re wrong and I’m right!
Barney: Let me ask you something…you ever been wrong about anything ever before in your life?
Hannah: Yes, once.
Vinnie Antonelli: The shoes, right? The shoes are tragic!

Well, to actually answer the question, rather then wait for Rick to say what the point is, no, I would not say my interest in freedom has Falsifiability.

Ah-HAH!

I have forced you to admit that an earlier, blanket assertion that judicial activism did not exist was wrong. And thus, by this one counter-example, according to the Scott Plaid Laws of Debate -

I WIN!!!

Actually, these were my words. Please don’t steal them and credit them to yourself, in whole or in part.

Personally, I would like you not to state strawmen, but we can’t always get what we want.

I see you’re falling back on Rule 1 of the Plaid Guide to Debating. First person to yell strawman wins. Very well, under those rules, I suppose you have won the thread. Chalk up another debate victory for the invincible Plaid.

Sorry to see that the point of my post was too subtle for you.

Or, in Clinton’s case, a National Day of Oral Sex.
:o

In Clinton’s case, he’d declare a National Day of Prayer for Oral Sex.

Yes, it would seem that way.
It is strange to me that Jesus would have to talk to himself, and not even answer his own prayer.Example:“That they will be one even as we are” as for Moses there is no historical proof of his existence.

Jesus should have known the father’s will so to say," not my will but yours be done" is rather redundant. If he and the father were one,and if you saw him you saw the father, then it is contradictory to say he had Faith, it would be knowledge that he had.

Would you say the purpose of prayer is to give some one something to do until what ever is going to happen will happen anyway?

Is it to change God’s mind who already should know one’s needs?

Humans need conversation, they do not know the mind or needs of another, God is supposed to know all things and allow all things to happen to serve his purpose,so if one trusts this Supreme being, prayer would be unnecessary.

Children of a all knowing good father can relax and know their need are taken care of and will always be. It seems to me some people expect more of a human parent that doesn’t know the future,or are not able to know for certain what is helpful to their child, than to their God.

With all due respect, I think he can also claim victory under rules #6 & #10…in fact he has already declared a #10 victory.

Well, even if the “debate” is now in the history books, I will still be waiting with bated breath to hear (in the postmortem) what sort of strawman he claims that I built – considering that my post #201 was neither an endorsement nor a refutation of his arguments. In fact, that post had nothing specifically to do with him.

But see, that’s just the problem right there. People who want oral sex are probably praying for oral sex every day anyway, so why does the President need to say anything about it at all?

There’s the difference between Clinton and Bush.

When Clinton said, “Let’s get down on our knees”, he only meant ladies.

And that’s just the way it should be.

Yeah…when Bush does it, he demands it of both men AND women.

Do you really see his proclomation as a demand? I see it as a request that will be largely ignored by the few who are even aware of its existence.
