National Theatre Live "The Importance of Being Earnest" in theaters 2025

Has anyone here seen this? It’s very recent, and apparently screenings are rather sparse. I live in San Francisco and the only screenings here are in Larkspur, which is a fair distance to go for a movie. The few clips I have seen have been very promising; but there is only one review on IMDB and it gives it a 4, mostly on the performance of Cecily. Oh, what to do?

I hope it becomes available online at some point for those of us who live in the wilds. I’d be willing to pay to see it online. According to the Mr. Google…

  • Cinematic Release: The production, filmed in front of a live audience, will be screened in cinemas globally via National Theatre Live.
  • Find Screenings: Audiences can find their nearest screening at the NT Live website.
  • Not for Streaming: The production is not intended for online streaming or on-demand viewing.

That fruit* is way to close to the ground.

ETA: *No, that was not intended.

I believe it played in NYC on Feb 20 but I was already seeing something else that night so couldn’t go. The trailer for it looked good though!

If it makes it to the West End, I’ll almost (Irish citizen) feel obligated to see it. I did like the 2002 film with Colin Firth.

Yes, that’s where I found out where it was playing “near” here. I was hoping to be persuaded by someone who has seen it to make the trip to Larkspur (I could take Bruce the Ferry) just for the movie.
