Brisket is simmerin’ away and smells so nummy! In a little while I shall add carrots and N.O.T. Also, you all will be pleased to know all the undies are washed, dried, and put away and fresh sheets are upon the bed. I’m callin’ that a productive mornin’.
Dang dogiooo, welcome to my world too. Well different kinds of crap but all crap.
BatBoy congrats!
Moooom good on you for not killing wildlife on the way to work. Save that for the Porsche.
Butters sorry irk has been so irksome. Hope the party is fun at least.
Sleep is a good theme this week. Fell asleep around 4 am. Alarm went off around 6. I turned it off and kept sleeping. Kids are going to be late to school. Alas and alack. They are both going though, which is progress. Stoopid cold and flu season.
Did I mention that my dishwasher died? It did. About a week ago. I’ve been shopping for a new one, but just in case it’s something simple the repair guy will be here this morning. I’ve been washing the dishes by hand. From the kids’ reaction, you’d think that cavemen had resurrected and were performing rituals from the stone age in front of their eyes. I got them their own gloves and everything, but since they were sick I haven’t introduced them to the magic that is a sick full of hot water and lather yet. I can see that it needs to be on the agenda though.
Other than that, hubby comes back around midnight for two days before heading out again. Need to get laundry done. I was hoping for a nap but I’m not sure it will happen…
Just orange in color, thank you. We’re not up to having fruit soup yet.
So I went to Jerusalem, and while I was on the bus, Bowserwtte #2, the “pre-engaged” daughter, calls and tells me that she will be free for lunch after all. So, after I go to visit a shiva house, I walk over and have a lunch date with my daughter.
She tells me that she’s not happy in the 3 year certificate program that she’s in, so she’s not going anymore. She has in mind what she wants to do instead, so that helps. I got to have a heart to heart talk with her about marriage, which got me a little teary eyed - I remember when my dad had the same talk with me.
I left, took a bus back home, and then my sister called. She tells me that my pretty sick BIL is having some type of exploratory surgery on his ankle and foot tomorrow, and the surgeon will decide it there’s enough healthy tissue and bone to put in some type of artificial ankle, or if he’s going to lose the foot. He’s got some type of infection in his body that just won’t heal. I tried calling him earlier, but he didn’t answer his room phone. Sister says he was getting a blood transfusion. (He’s anemic on top of everything else.)
After I got home, the dog threw up.
I was wondering about the orange soup too. You know here in the states Orange is probably the least favorite color right now.
Bowser sounds like you had quite the day. I’m still at the parenting stage where I get to say “because I said so”, although I’m loosening the reins a bit. It sounds like you’re at the scary stage where you get to let go and watch and wait and hope the bird flies.
I hope your BiL’s issues get figured out. Sounds scary. My ankle is half metal. It’s no fun. I’m guessing it’s the infection that is the real issue though.
I got the kids to school and am here with the repair man. He doesn’t seem happy. We’ll see…
The bank called and we’re almost to the re-fi. They want one more paystub (which gets autocorrected to “patsy” - hmmmm) and some money and we’re done. Yay!
I and 12 other employees have been refreshed on CPR, First Aid, Choking, Burns, and all that good stuff. One more thing to check off the list for accreditation re-certification. I think I shall skedaddle early today as I have stuff to do at home like laundry and figuring out supper and maybe even a trip to the grocery store. One more day til the weekend. Has been a long and frustrating week. Bizzy too.
Good luck on the dishwasher sunny. If you have to buy one and have the option to get it installed do so. My new one sat for 7 months until hubby finally found time to install it. At least the old one was still working half assed. I could have avoided all that by paying only $59 more.
Looks like dishwasher is fixed. He used compressed air to blow through a section of the drain line that I couldn’t reach. Apparently there was a clog. $75 instead of a new dishwasher.
Butters I have installed dishwashers, but I am quite willing to pay someone to do it. I gave up waiting on hubby a while back. He might do things right away or he might never do it. No way to tell and I don’t like to nag. Not worth the stress. I do it myself if I can or pay someone.
My cats have learned how to open their pet food container. This is interesting because it’s one of those air tight containers you might use to hold grain or feed with a screw on lid. It’s heavy duty and meant to keep rats and such out, and the feed dry. The lid is about 18 inches to 2 feet in diameter. How the heck are they unscrewing it? I keep it on the counter in the laundry room. Every day I go in there and it’s unscrewed. I really cranked it down last night. We’ll see if the little varmints can get their way in this time. If they do, I’m setting up a camera and seeing if I can capture it for youtube.
I rinse stuff before it goes into the dish washer. I repaired Mama Plant’s dish washer and there are lots of little drain pipes that can clog up.
Well, they don’t use thumbs. I am happily surprised that our cats haven’t learned to get the lid of off the Magic Pie Hole Box.
The brisket turned out nummy and so tender! Brisket, carrots, N.O.T., crowder peas, and rolls made for a good dindin. Plus, there’s ice cream! All is right with the world!
I walked Gordie, went to the Sto, then napped. Sloth day, apparently.
Yay on being teacher’s pet bat boy!
{{{doggio}}}
Does orange soup feature carrots bumba?
Today went a little better. I took some really upbeat Latin and Cajun music and there’s no way not to bounce a little to that.
Supper tonight is a salvage operation breakfast for dinner. I made a veggie and cheese fritatta and dark rye toast.
I’m going to lunch with the rest of my coworkers, but doggone, did they pick a $$$ restaurant! And there are very few options on the menu that appeal to me, but unless there’s a really interesting daily special, I’m getting the crabcake sammich. Can’t remember the last time I paid $14 for a sammich.
Could be worse, I guess. Well, no. If they’d picked the Thai place, I would have opted out. I ate there once and it was nasty. The worst part, tho, is that we’re not going till 12:30. I usually lunch at 11 because I have breakfast around 6. I’ll need to have a mid-morning snack or I’ll have a gawd-awful headache by lunch time.
Oh well, another day bites the dust. Almost bed time. <yawn>
Physically and emotionally drained. I may not stop by except on a driveby but I’ll probably kvetch about it all next week once I settle down and settle back in.
Our elders do fall into habit dining.
But then I go in at 7:00 and lunch at 11:00.
11:00 is about time, or even early for mid-morning snack. I’ve snacked but still not eaten dinner yet, which is why I eat lunch so late.
Spent the day doing a bit of cleaning but lots of cleaning up while “irking” from home today.
At 11am I’m usually having dinner; supper for me is more a small or light lunch-like meal around 8pm. Breakfast was always more a weekend thing for me than a usual thing. When I change jobs (Hell – with Da Jugle its always when and not in you are going to bail) its readjusting my eating habits that is going to be toughest.
OK, so as you can see by the time I do need to vent just a little. My brother has made a big deal over the last 15 years that when something happened to mother or the house was going up for sale I would get a last shot at anything of mine or of special memory to me that I wanted. Of course this is the same brother who after Dad’s funeral said “Well I got good news and bad news. The good news is she put you in her will. The bad news is that its just so she can write you out later”. Her hatred of me has been so long and so well known that it was almost the family joke.
So don’t get me wrong – I’m grateful for being able to nab a couple little things; papers and stuff. And I’m not surprised that most of the stuff I cared about or that was mine personally was gone; she probably threw it out or gave it away ages ago. But ---------- there were a couple small things. No big value; maybe $50 for one and $25 for the other. But it seems he already had had the lady handling the liquidation sale in the house a couple weeks back. And that lady has THE LIST. And God forbid if every last thing on that list isn’t there for her to sale. Why I could speculate but I won’t.
Tomorrow we’re going back for an old desk that I made sure wasn’t on THE LIST. I may have to bust it to pieces to get it out of there but by all that is Holy it will come out of there. And tomorrow may be the last time I get to see my only brother ever again. We went through a lot over the years and I have a ton of good feelings and memories of him and our family. I just wish this last one was without tarnish. But if wishes were fishes ------------
Up, caffeinated ,and sheveled. Off to work.
Sorry about the family drama, Ruble.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 55 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 80 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. Today I shall assist JDD with pickin’ up limbs at his ‘rents house in large and in charge Parrott, Jawja. We shall shower and change into goin’ about the public clothin’, pay a visit to his ‘rents in the nursin’ home in large and in charge Dawson, Jawja, and have N.O.L. while there. I shall feast upon catfish filets at the local fish restaurant there which has really good fresh catfish filets, so YUM! I shall also go to the Pubic Sto’ to pick up some steamed shrimpies (already ordered) for dindin. Shrimpies, wild rice and peas 'n carrots shall be dindin.
{{{Ruble}}} so sorry for all the family troubles but family can just suck sometimes. It has been long agreed that my sister gets mom’s house and the contents thereof. My brothers and I could not imagine it any other way bein’ as she is our only sister. Plus also, sis is livin’ there and takin’ care of mom.
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then I suppose I should shave and brush my teeth so as to be reasonably presentable. A fun day ahead.
Happy Firday Y’all!
