Doing the rounds in Ireland at the minute.
Incredibly funny.
Sorry, it should have been here, not MPSIS…thats not it.
You call that a movie, do ya?
(fistfight ensues)
I love how he concedes that some people will like it, and then follows it up with “most wont”
If I could understand what he was saying, I may think it was funny. Bad Youtube recording of a scratchy cell phone audio of a strong Irish accent.
He says it’s “particularly vile” and that people came up after saying they “didn’t think it would be that bad” “Well, it is that bad, so don’t come up to us complaining after the ‘film’ (pronounced fillum)”.
Ah, that made me homesick! Thanks for sharing!
It’s weird, to me it’s plain English.
The BBC has a better-quality clip of the announcement (which it states is no longer being used). But here’s a transcript anyway:
“Thank you for calling the Diamond Cinema here in Navan. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince opens here on Wednesday, playing Wednesday and Thursday at 3 and 8 and carries a 12A cert but today we’re showing Bruno at 3:15 and 8:20 and it carries a 16 cert. Now Bruno is particularly vile. It leads to a hell of a lot of complaints of people who say they didn’t think it was that bad. It is that bad. It will offend every prejudice in the book, believe me. So don’t come on after the film and tell us how horrible it was.
One or two people have enjoyed it, though.”
(I’m American and I didn’t have trouble understanding it, except for the references to the Irish film rating system, which I was unfamiliar with and had to look up.)
That’s rather funny.
