NE Ohio DopeFest on Sat. April 13

Good pics - thanks to you both.

I’ll second and third that. Herself and I had a fantastic time thanks to our fantastic host and his exceptional helpers. We didn’t drop any weight this weekend but we sure picked up a load of great memories and times!

And as promised one of my longer screen shots that made it to the web. Click on

and then click The Heart of America

The movie was written and produced by the dude who wrote “St Elmo’s Fire” (never saw it). Never suffer yourself through the entire movie - settle for the clip. It isn’t terrible as local interest but it rambles worse than I do. Had I known I was in it (I thought I was helping some film students at the request of the site director) I would have avoided being in it.

So, the property management firm tells me the water is disconnected at my house, the place where two NEO Dopefests were held when I was still living in the area.

Today, I go downtown to Cleveland Water to get the water turned back on. Turns out it was never disconnected. “No, no disconnection order, the account is current, everything’s fine. Maybe the previous tenant turned off the valve at the house.”

Sigh. So, on my way back to the Rapid to the park-and-ride, I stopped at the Horseshoe. I dropped a ten into one of the Double Diamond machines, and left with $25. The winnings didn’t make up for the cost of my time, but still, I probably made out better than the crowds at the blackjack tables. Really, it’s 10:30 AM, and people playing blackjack in downtown Cleveland?

Back to Hippie Valley, to the throngs of silver-haired Earth Mother crones, the Volvo 240 and bike-filed streets, and the pro-North Korea commentary on the local community radio station.

Congrats on your winnings. Please go down to the radio station and smack them around a little for me.

I am resurrecting this thread to report, with great disappointment, that the signs near the Portage Country Club in Akron that read “No Parking on the Devil Strip” are no longer there. They were when we moved my mother to Rockynol in the early '90s. I drove by there today expressly so I could photograph them for** samclem**. :frowning:

This YouTube compilation says it better than I ever could: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgI2ZQVyrBo

Well, for what it’s worth, I still ask my STNA to take the trash to the Devil Strip.

You little devil, you!

Shhh. I think he’s on the verge of greatness.

5 seconds ago my neighbor asked me “do you want to put that sapling on your tree lawn?”
I replied “No, you can put it on the devil strip.”

Heh heh! You Clevelanders are so amusing.

I’m a Dope®!

And here all I had to do was pick up some litter off of the little grassy section between the curb and the sidewalk.

I was in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne yesterday and I had a bottle of Newcastle Brown Ale in your honour. Or is it Boddington’s you prefer?

You chose wisely.

Whatever you like, as long as you thought of us whilst quaffing!

Sweet-talk all you want, I won’t strip!
