The 1st one I heard a LOT on 99X in Atlanta in the summer 94. It was about some band from Athens, GA that wanted to be “grunge”, moving to seattle, growing their hair greasy and long, etc. It ended with something like “we’re moving back to athens”. IIRC it was like a rockabilly/alternative sounding song.
Number 2 was on MTV around the same time I guess. It was Jazz like I guess and it started out with “wait wait a minute” and said something along the lines of “bibbity bibbity bop” quite a few times.
Thanks in advance because I’m sure someone will know this.

Was the first song almost spoken - I remember one song about a band who wanted to be grungy and so did not actually sing - they were “that” indie. The last verse is something about their MTV unplugged gig???
I could be totally off track.
As for the second one, i can’t stop repeating the “wa wait a minute” phrase. Of course, that is where I stop though.
I will keep thinking however, as there is nothing worse than this kind of boggle.
Cabbage is correct on song #1. It’s the “hidden track” on the album Songs for the Daily Planet. My favorite line is “We went out there and refused to do acoustical versions of the electric songs we refused to record in the first place - then we smashed our shit.”
(He’ll be at the Avalon Theater in Easton, MD on 12/5.)
Just to be clear - the second song is “Cantaloupe” (Flip Fantasia) by Us 3 - they have (had?) access to the Blue Note jazz label’s archives and they sampled Herbie Hancock’s “Cantaloupe” (It may be “Cantaloupe Island”) when cutting the track.
The CD it is on is called “Hands on the Torch”. There are a few other good tracks on it…
