Neighbor accusations

I had an old lady tear my mom a new asshole for riding my roller skates in the hallways of our apartment building.

I never owned any roller skates - just “borrowed” them from the rink whenever I went.

It’s curious how many new posters introduce themselves to the board in the form of a “Dear Abby” letter.

Oh, so now you think you’re better than she is?! Mandelbaum, Mandelbaum, Mandelbaum!

The OP hasn’t posted since yesterday…

I was going to say to get a car cover of your own but the remote start is much more elegant move.

It was such an interesting and decently written post that I didn’t realize it was a new poster until now.

Welcome to the SDMB, Blindsided.

What, Blindsided is new?!? {Checks join date} Am I mistaking the name for someone else?

Welcome to the Dope, anyway!

It really IS disturbing. I would avoid contact with her as much as possible, and I also advise you to record your contacts with her, in writing, in excruciating detail, including date, time, location, and anything either one of you says.

I feel sorry for you; this is no way to live. She sounds like she has mental problems.

Some states (such as MA) have in law the ability to give someone a permanent “No Trespass” notice - you send them a form letter, return receipt requested, saying they are not permitted on your property ever again. You file the letter and the return receipt with the local police dept., and if the person comes onto your property for any reason whatsoever, including walking up to your front door, you can call the police and have them arrested. Probably not a good idea to escalate this now, but it’s definitely worth investigating in case she comes back.

I’m kind of confused on one point, in your OP you say the lady couldn’t describe you to your fiance and didn’t recognize your description when he described you to her, but then you say she knocked on all the neighbors doors until she found you. How could she know it was you if she didn’t recognize a description of you and couldn’t describe you?

Thanks for the welcome everyone! Yes I am brand new, and didn’t realize I’d taken on a username of someone else here. Sry for the confusion.

To answer kimbalkids question, she was describing me as the lady that drives the white SUV. We only have one white suv on our block, and she also identified the location where I park it. I honestly don’t think she would have recognized me if I denied owning the car. (Also I think she only went to two houses looking for me. The homes between mine and hers)

Sry I somehow just lost my response. So this may be a duplicate.

Thanks for the welcome! Yes I am brand new here. Sorry for the confusion, I didn’t realize I’d taken someone else’s name on here.

To answer kimbalkids question, she was looking for ‘the lady that drives the white SUV’. She also identified the spot where I park it. Additionally, it’s the only white SUV on our block. I don’t think she would have recognized me if I didn’t admit to owning the vehicle. She couldn’t even confirm my race! Lol (fiancé and I are an interracial couple) I think she only went to one or two neighbors looking for me,only one neighbor has mentioned it and there are only two homes between us)

Hampshire I’ve lived here for 4 years, Fiancé has been here for 6. I’m guessing she was away at college or something until recently because fiancé met the mom years ago, but doesn’t remember her. I think they’ve been here way longer than we have though.

The neighbor that lives between us (the one where she went looking for me) said he met her a couple months ago and thought she seemed odd. She knocked on his door, introduced herself, then ran off before he could say a single word. Literally RAN off/hair flying in the wind, before he could even say ‘nice to meet you’. He said it was odd

I think it’s just my confusion - I think I’m mistaking your username for someone else. I don’t think you’re allowed to take a username that’s already in use.

Sure hope you can stay safe. This woman sounds like a doozy.

No, you can’t. Don’t mind Cat Whisperer, Blindsided - she’s a little confused. We’ll just have her come over here and sit in the sun. Welcome to the boards.

Do they have sun in Canada?

(I was just going to use a heat lamp and tell her it was the sun. Shh. She’ll never know.)

The OP is Canadian but I don’t think she’s a Newfie.

Security camera systems are affordable now and fairly high quality. Consider installing a system with cameras that cover multiple angles of your entire front yard. This is easy to do. Most systems come with anywhere from 4 to 16 cameras, a hard drive based recorder and the ability to remotely log in to the system via a smart phone. I am looking at the systems here that run from under $300 to $3,200. The sweet spot are the systems between $800 to $1,000.

Thoughtfully placed cameras will capture a lot of information that can be used to prove your case should the need arise.

This is a great way to truly document at all times any and all interactions that occur on or near your property. You have been wisely advised to document everything, so seriously consider a camera system.
