Man, That’s not a chick tract. I don’t know who has taken over editorial and theological tack… but that is not Jack!. Imposter.
Just remember folks… If you don’t sin, Jesus died for nothing.
Heh. When there’s any danger that Jesus died for nothing, I guess we can take your advice, but I don’t see it happening any time soon.
Not to mention that the concept of “Eternal Hell” was invented during Egypt’s Middle Kingdom, to make the slaves obey.
Aha, now it’s finally confirmed – Jack Chick is, in fact, kanicbird.
Ain’t a Chick tract without some Catholic bashing.
Not a problem, Bertha. There is a discontinued tract called “Wounded Children” and Kurt of chickcomics . com has a review that will give you the jist of it.
JTC is actually being consistent.
- the other “Jack”
Yeah… someday we will all have the “wisdom” to realize that our suffering from earhquakes and tornadoes was the result of our own bad choices.
Well, yes and no. Irressistible Grace and Permanent Security are elements of particular schools of theology, not a universal consensus on biblical teaching. The saved are safe, BUT: is “saved” the end product of a holistic process, or is it a singular event? You must repent (your sins) and confess (Jesus as your saviour) to be saved, but is that always instantaneous and simultaneous for everyone? Assuming that once you repent and convert you should not ever again fall to temptation or weakness, or else that means you are one of the unchosen ones, is inviting the further temptation of despair. Of course, the thing is that even within the Calvinist doctrine there is room for the person who finds him or herself still struggling with temptation and weakness even after repenting and converting, to anyway BE one of the saved/elect: it just so happens that it’s God’s plan to make you sweat it. You WILL be saved, but on God’s schedule, not yours.
Yeah… because earthquakes and tornadoes are the only suffering anyone ever complained about.
And because no-one ever knowingly lived in an earthquake zone hoping there wouldn’t be one in their lifetime.
Good game this, isn’t it?
Nice try, but you left it unqualified. You didn’t say “some” or even “most” suffering.
And I left off saying that one could make bad choices about geographically risky areas to live-- if one were a free adult. And that this would obviously not apply to babies, toddlers, small children, even slaves, etc. I gave you enough credit to think that you would see that much.
Seems I overestimated you. Pity. ![]()
Did that make sense in your head, before you typed it?
An example of one of those bad choices you can make.
Classic Chickism. Absolutely classic. He managed to piss off (or on) huge numbers of people. But he made a huge blunder in this one; for someone who is supposedly such a bible scholar, he made a glaring error in history when he said
JC supposedly showed up about 2000 years ago. If he created Satan, then who was it in the Garden with Eve, long before then?
C’mon, Jack - it’s failure to check your sources and facts that detract from the wonderful message you send forth. Get on the ball.
Many, probably most, denominations believe that all components of the trinity are eternal and predate all made things. For example, a version of the Nicene Creed goes:
italics and bolding added.
That said, God know what Chick believes.
Not really an error. Christian belief is that Jesus is God so he always existed. He just manifested himself on Earth two thousand years ago.
This does raise some interesting questions. When God was creating original sin was Jesus standing there next to him saying “Thanks a lot. You know I’m going to have to go down there and clean that up someday, right?”
I had that same judgemental bitch and experience when my parents sent me to that “bad acne” camp one summer…
I am just glad Vinyl Turnip’s brother’s acting career has finally taken off. I just hope he doesnt get type cast.
Frankenstein’s monster bumming the wolfman on a unicorn’s back in Atlantis is more realistic than Chick.
“…or worse.”
She could have ended up “or worse.” The mind reels at the awful possibilities that could be worse than being a lesbian. She could have ended up a Cowboys fan.
Here’s what I don’t get; if raping her could turn her off men and make her a lesbian, wouldn’t a guy being raped by a man make it likelier to turn him off men and be straight?
…
