New favorite commercial(s)

I mentioned that in the OP. I like the “pay it forward” theme.

Sorry, I misidentified the company in my OP. Thanks for fixing it!

I thought I would hate the new VW ad with Slash plugging in to a stack of VWs and beginning to rip it up, until the voiceover promises to give away a guitar "so you can shred like Slash…

…if you’re Slash."

And then the next in the series features Nigel Tufnel (Spinal Tap) falling off his stack. Very Rock and Roll!

I’m still trying to figure if the third guitarist is John Mayer.

My new favorite is a Sportscenter promo. One of the anchors has a Chicago White Sox game on TV. You can see Ozzie Guillen pick up the bullpen phone to get a pitcher warmed up, but when he picks it up, it calls the phone right next to the anchor. The anchor, oblivious to the fact that he’s talking to Guillen, tells the caller that he has the wrong number. Guillen calls back and says something to the effect of, “C’mon guys, stop screwing around.” The anchor subsequently hangs up on Ozzie.

What I like about the Jack In The Box / Cheerleader ad is the cheerleader’s uncle (or whomever he’s supposed to be) when he’s defending his idea to Jack. That dude’s really selling the cheerleader idea to Jack; the tone in his voice always makes me grin.

Not really a favorite commercial, per se, but it always gets my attention (for probably the wrong reason): the recent McDonald’s ad with the kid who’s eating and listening to some hip-hop, and he does origami with his food wrappers. And then they come to life and start dancing. Every time I see it I think, “How baked is this guy? He got the munchies and he’s hallucinating.” A head-shaker, to be sure.

There’s a promo on, I think USA for Monk… where Mr. Monk is in the doctor’s office and starts arranging things. He comes upon a rack of test tubes filled with blood in various amounts. Then we see the test tues and the blood is all level. Then we cut to an elderly couple and the doctor says, “your test results are back. you’re pregnant.” The expression on the old lady’s face is great. and even better when the doctor turns to her husband and says “so are you.” He starts giggling and she smacks him.
Another one I’ve seen a few times that I thought was cute- the McDonald’s commercial where the girl has a twin, but has never noticed. I love the observant twin’s reaction to the unobservant twin’s behavior.

If radio commercials count, I have to say that I am a sucker for the “Real Men of Genius” Budweiser ads I’ve been hearing lately. I am the female version of “Mr. Indecisive Food Orderer Guy”.

Every time the “Messin’ with Sasquatch” commercials come on, I giggle like a kid and poke my fiancee in the arm – “Ha! Sasquatch just kicked that guy’s ass!” Luckily, she still loves me.

“What are you doing for the rest of your life?
North and east and south and west of your life?
I have but one request for your life,
That you spend it with me.”

I’m in love with the woman who sings that on that diamond commercial. (Don’t ask me which jeweler it’s for. I haven’t a clue.) Her voice is so beautiful I perk up my ears every time she sings. Anyone know who it is? I know the song itself is at least 50 years old. I’m kind of thinking it might be Julie London but it’s probably someone a lot more comtemporary. Any guesses?

Anyway, that’s my newest favorite commercial.

It is. He’s got a new look and a new sound, according to the review I heard on NPR the other day.

There is a woman that works with my GF who looks exactly like that guy.

I like the Sonic commercials with the bickering couple. The latest one has him talking about how the readers of his blog will enjoy reading about his latest visit to Sonic. The wife (who I find very sexy, by the way), says something like, “Your readers? Don’t you mean your mom?”
