New Job!

Finally, I am free of this nightmare!
Friday is my last day at my current job and I start the new one Monday! More money, immediate benefits, more advancement opportunity, and best of all, it’s what I want to do.
My current job was supposed to be temporary while I found a company I really wanted to work at, but I ended up being sucked in for 9 months. I’ve gotten other offers, but nothing close to what I wanted, so I stuck it out until…my phone rang this afternoon…and I heard the words I’ve been waiting for!

The Dope has been instrumental in helping me with interviews, my resume and overall attitude regarding the job hunt. Thanks everyone!

Sincerest congratulations, LunaV!

I’ll back off now to a safe distance until you come down from your wonderful high…may it last a long, long while. Enjoy!

You’re not even going to tell us what the job is?

Oops! It’s a teller position at a regional bank. I worked in a bank as a senior teller for a couple of years before I moved last year, and it’s been difficult breaking back into the business (at least with the pay and hours that I need) so although I’m starting out as a teller again, I’m happy to do so. With my knowledge, I’m sure to move up soon.
My current job is a cashiering/accounting position at a Lexus dealership. The people I work with are fantastic, but the job itself leads nowhere, I’ve been bored to tears for months now, and they’ve been dragging their heels with everything. For example, I took a drug test a couple of weeks after I started, passed, and I was told they’d put me on their payroll and I could start receiving benefits after so many months. 8 and a half months later, I had to go through another drug test because they waited so long that the first one expired. If it was a simple urine test, I wouldn’t have cared, but they use hair testing. Meaning they chop off a decent portion of your hair in multiple places as close to the scalp as they can. I have nice hair, and I was pretty peeved at having to go through the process a second, unnecessary, time. That’s just one of many  experiences I’ve had.
But no more! ~does happy dance~

Congtatulations and good luck with the new gig – it sounds promising!

I, for one, welcome our new job-changing overlord.
doesn’t work for this, does it? In any case, good job, Luna!
