new L'oreal lipstick

I was wondering if any of you guys or girls have used “L’oreal’s Everlast Lipcolour” It’s supposed to last eight hours without rubbing off, and keep your lips moist at the same time.

I wanna try it. Have any of you?
Lorie

No, but I have the Max Factor Lipfinity which I believe is more or less the same thing. Juniper turned me on to it at MichiDope. It is AWESOME. it doesn’t last 8 hours if you eat greasy food, but yeah, it sticks. Doesn’t feel heavy either. You actually get a separate mousturizer/gloss to apply whenever you want.

The one thing is you have to be fairly careful in applying it because once it sets it is quite difficult to remove (baby oil takes it off).

I like the Avon beComing (?) lipstick that’s sold in stores - I think I saw their counter at a JCPenney’s perhaps. It’s a slim silver tube, and the stuff stays on a long time. I don’t wear lipstick often so I couldn’t say how many hours, but it did stand up well to drinking from a glass while wearing it.

I had really bad luck with one of the other long-wearing lipsticks, it came right off on a glass even though I’d followed the application instructions. I believe it was L’Oreal but that was a number of months ago; they might have changed the formula since then.

I use the Cover Girl eight hour lipstick, and now I won’t wear any other kind! I LOVE IT! You use oil to remove it, so eating greasy food will do the same, but otherwise, it does last all day. I’ve put it on in the morning, had a sandwich for lunch, spent all day sipping on beverages, come home late afternoon and my lipstick still looks the same as when I put it on. Like the Lipfinity, it comes with a separate, clear gloss to freshen up your look, and I only need to re-apply the base colour if my lunch is a bit greasy.

My only problem has been that there aren’t any testers (at least not here), so it took a couple of tries to get the best colour for me, but I’ve got it all figured out now. Cherrywood.

I didn’t like using these particular kinds of lipstick because I found that I’d constantly have to use the gloss to keep my lips from feeling like a parched desert wasteland. Also, I found that if you slacked off using the gloss, the color would crack on your lips causing it to look really strange. FWIW, I used the darker shades.

YMMV, of course.

I have to agree with Zhen’ka here.
I have not tried the lipsticks with “staying power” since the first crop a couple years ago-that Colorstay stuff, so they may have improved.
The long-lasting lipsticks used to feel like Georgia red clay going on your lips, and would dry as such.
Have the formulas changed? I have naturally dry lips, though, so I may be the problem.

No, these new lipsticks are actually like a semi-permanent “lip stain” – it is a very thin light coating of color. I don’t even feel it (and I have tried other long wear lipsticks… this is different).

max factor’s lipfinity is ABSOLUTELY the worst thing ever. ever ever ever.

I swear they make it with powdered silica: it is so drying! I could not stand having it on my lips at all and I am a pretty hardcore makeup junkie.

They are not the same formula as the color stay lipsticks. Those did feel like clay on your lips. These almost feel like you had a piece of tape on your lips. It feels like some weird alien skin is envading your lips.

Lipstains are nice. I love them…but you need a pretty steady hand in applying them. It acts kind of like a dye, so if you misapply, it will ‘dye’ your skin too. Sometimes they leave too hard of a defined line for me (true of the darker stains).

i just wanted to add that there is a difference in lipstains and these new everlast lipsticks.

The lipstains have a transparent look to them (think of your lips after drinking red Koolaide). The everlasts are more opaque.

The continuous wear lipsticks I have tried are too drying for me as well!

I really like the lip stains–nice wash of color and non-drying.
I recently purchased a “lip glass” which is similar to a stain, but really, really thick. Should not wear it on a windy day with your hair down–it will stick! It looks good, but feels thick and takes some getting used to.

I’ve also been wanting to try Everlast because it’s suppose to be less drying than the liquid lip stains like Lipfinity. If I use Lipfinity 2 days in a row it makes my 38 year old lips look like 88 year old lips.

I use the Cover Girl Outlast, and I like it a lot. I rarely wear lipstick these days - I prefer to just use tinted gloss. But when I want a deep color, I use CG Outlast because you don’t have to worry about it smearing on your teeth or looking blotchy.

However, I will say that it’s damn near impossible to get off, even the next day (!!) - it took me half a tub of Vaseline and a toothbrush to get every bit off. Also, I started wearing a nice pale color every day for about a week, and my lips were so dry (even with regular applications of the included moisturizer) and cake-y that I never wanted to wear lipstick again. I had to scrub so hard to get it all off, and the moisturizer just wasn’t cutting it, and my lips were very sore. Finally I just made sure every last bit was off (Origins has a great lip scrub for removing flakes) and slathered on balm and Vaseline (before bed) for a few days. It took a few days for my lips to get back to normal.

For a special occasion though, when you want fabulous deep red lips, it works really well because it’s worry-free. I like the color used in the ads - Timeless Ruby. It’s a beautiful, true red that compliments olive skin nicely.

As far as lip stains, Origins makes a cheek stain in a little tube - I can’t remember the name off the top of my head. It looks dark in the tube but it goes on sheer and natural. It works really well on lips too.

I have two of the new L’oreal lipsticks. I like the new formulation, which incidentally, is quite different from CG’s Outlast and MF’s Lipfinity. The L’oreal lipstick actually feels like lipstick without being overly drying. I like creamy, matte lipsticks the most. I hate most lipglosses because they feel greasy, sticky and prone to slide all over my face.

It’s called Pinch Your Cheeks - $10 a tube.

I tried the L’oreal Everlast, and I wasn’t very happy with it. It did in fact stay on all day, but after a few hours, I could see very teensy “feathering” around the lip line. That’s one of my beauty pet peeves – the feathering. It drives me up a wall. It was very slight, but it was there.

It also got me into one of those awkward situations, because one of my best friends and I bought the Everlast at the same time on a shopping trip. A few days later, she asked me if I liked it, and I explained that I didn’t because of the feathering. She replied “That’s funny, it doesn’t do that on me” – but it did! I just changed the subject.
