New outrage from Japan--"Hamster Curry"!

It’s true! Those lovable, furry creatures that power the SDMB servers can now power…your lunch!

The horror, the horror!

Now when the servers are running slow, Ed Zotti has a valuable incentive for those lazy hamsters…keep running, or be sent to Japan to be part of a “cute mild curry!”

[sub]There is the off-chance that this is a misguided marketing strategy and no hamsters were actually harmed in the making of this curry…but just in case…[/sub]

I hope they don’t or there’ll be a lot of little children with nightmares. That little guy looks a lot like Hamtaro. It’s kinda like having Big Bird pitching the quality bird parts in chicken soup.

Although the idea of eating happy little hamsters who go into the choppers with big grins on their face is amusing.

I can read the Japanese on the lable, and this almost got me. I was looking forwards to a new taste treat!

Transliteration of the package:“Hamondokare: ringo to hamusta no aji no aru kyuto na kare”
Literal Translation: “Hamondo Curry: apple and hamster flavor cute curry”
Meaningful translation: “Hamondo Curry: the cute apple curry with a hamster feeling to it” or “Hamondo Curry: the cute apple curry for a hamster’s tastes”

For anyone whooshed like I almost was, no it doesn’t have hamster meat in it. It is meant to appeal to the kiddies. I haven’t been back to the US in 2 years. Is Hamutaro known widely back home?

Hey, are these the same people doing the mouse-watering chicken sandwich?

People need to be more receptive to the unexplored delights of rodent cuisine…

Fairly well. Cartoon Network is running it about once a day, Sunday through Friday. However, it hasn’t nearly reached the oversaturation level of Pokemon or Yu-Gi-Oh.

I like Boss and Howdy.

Damn! I was looking forward to some tasty hamster curry, with a side order of cedar shavings. Maybe some red wine served in one of those upside-down water bottles, too.

Mmmmm . . . . Hamster . . . .

Do they have any Guinea Pig? That is tasty stuff and has a bit more meat on the bones than a hamster.

This reminds me of my first reaction to Hamtaro: “EEEEEKKK!!! THEY WANT TO SHOW EBICHU ON TV?!!!” Most of my friends who’ve seen Ebichu had the exact same reaction with Hamtaro.

Hamster: The other why meat.

I LOVE that site. I should have started this thread, since I thought of the SDMB hamsters immediately when I saw it.
