My name is Andrew. I’ve been reading the dope for about three years now, and it is on my regular browsing rotation. There is just so much content here, that I got enough out of the site to not even need to post. I found most times that there is such a wide variety of members here, that my opinions or knowledge are often already posited in a thread.
I’m a cook by profession, so I’ll chime in on cooking related threads mostly, and I’m also an avid PC gamer, having built and broken PCs since I was thirteen years old.
Welcome, welcome! Please, have some ice cream. It’s mustard-flavoured. Somewhat experimental, but it seems quite congenial so far, and hardly anyone has suffered serious side-effects. (The protrusions on the first test subject were more amusing than serious.)
More professional cooking advice is sure welcome. Most of us are accomplished amateurs, with a few exceptions. There’s at least one professional baker on the board, whose user name is, oddly enough, Baker.
Another “long-time lurker, first-time poster” here also! Well, my lurking history doesn’t go back three or even two years–in fact, not even one. I discovered this site earlier this year when I did a Google search on the guy who was attacked by chimps in Africa. Then the search got me to a human-monkey hybrid and some other weird monkey topics. A number of very interesting articles or posts, rather, came from SD. I was surprised such a site exists for the purpose of personal enlightenment and the sharing of everything useful and useless, high brow and low brow, funny and serious. I’ve been reading threads here for a number of months and just recently registered because at some point I will start a thread about something.
