Well, they could have some gentle fun with it. “Is it Captain Blank on the line?” “No, it’s his pushy aide again, a lieutenant Kirk.” “Damn. get me BLANK, understand?”
Well, Bryan Fuller is out as show runner but will stay in at least some capacity…not the best news unfortunately.
hehe, I’m going to go by that no matter what anyone says.
I hate prequels!
I can’t stream a Vine video. Guess I’ll wait till it’s on DVD.
Note the higher bridge dome, the spikes on the Bussard collectors, and the larger sensor/deflector dish. Also, it’s hard to tell, but it appears the rear ends of the warp nacelles have grids rather than domes. This model looks like the *Enterprise *in “The Cage.”
So it appears that Michelle Yeoh is the first (semi?) announced cast member. Between the shuffling premiere dates, the shuffling show-runners, and the overall ad-hoc, throw something at the wall and see if it sticks approach that seems to permeate everything, I’m starting to have doubts that Steve Bannon was the right guy to turn this ship around.
So they finally found reverse?
Yes, well, the image file is called “USS_Enterprise,The_Cage(remastered)_profile_view.jpg” so I’m guessing you must be right.
Not promising: Fuller is essentially out of the series other than outlining the First Season arc and writing a few episodes.
Hmmm must remain positive…must remain positive…
Yes, that would indeed appear to be the title of the link.
Looks like it is delayed again. No longer May but “late summer or fall”
That’s okay. I would rather it be done well than fast.
I think you and I are the only people still alive who remember that song.
Hardly. I can still sing the whole thing and would love to do it as a vaudeville stage presentation.
I am watching DS9 through, having left off with one or two random eps long ago and the first ten in a row maybe a year ago. The painful, painful episode encapsulation jumps out even more sharply than in the past. Even the most radical change in the course of the show can be negated with one line of dialogue just before the credits. As the not-a-ripoff-of-B5, which set the bar high for continuing storylines, it’s exasperating.
I hope this iteration can find a balance in that respect.
If you’re saying that you’re frustrated by DS9’s episodic nature and how the story is not carrying over from episode to episode, it gets much much better in later seasons. Collectively the last 3-4 seasons of DS9 is the best run of Star Trek ever, IMO.
Yeah, with the continuing clusterfuck the development has been so far, I think that the chances of it being “done well” are slim and none.
Yeah, but kinda annoying. Really the only reason I signed up for CBS All Access was to be able to see this freakin’ show. Not sure I want to pay for six months more of service waiting for them to make their minds up.
Capt. Lucius Malfoy, reporting for duty: Jason Isaacs And Mary Wiseman Cast In Star Trek: Discovery
Just kidding. But he was really good in that role.
They have a Captain casted, now. Some guy I’ve never heard of, but he’s very currently popular, I guess.
Talented, middle-aged, fairly handsome classically-trained British actor with a great voice. Basically a hirsute Patrick Stewart type.
Some cameos others may not have thought of:
Bakula could show up aged. Guinan could. Zachary Quinto could without anyone raising an eyebrow. Bruce Greenwood could as Pike. Chris Pine…coulllld pull it off but not as easily as Greenwood or Quinto.
Edit: Is this ten years before Kirk or ten years before the Enterprise launches?? That’s a big question cause ten years before Kirk the Enterprise is already around so Discovery should actually outclass her if she’s supposed to be leading edge tech. Or maybe not…maybe she’s just newer.
Meta-joke.
