New Star Trek has a title: Star Trek Discovery.

This show takes place ten years before TOS. Bakula would be long-dead, but elderly T’Pol could show up, as could Guinan or an early Dax.

I’m truly Hating the design of that ship.

Its literally worse than putting the tail-fins of a 1959 Chevy Impala on the back of 911 Porsche. :frowning:

NuTrek refers to Archer and its timeline is probably a tad bit later then what we will see in Discovery. Or around the same time actually.

edit: Heh. Maybe we’ll find out that Number One is Lwaxana Troi.

Well, we don’t know for sure that Admiral Archer is Jonathan…but it’s not impossible. He’d be an old man, but not outside the same range as Bones when he appeared on TNG.

(And looking at the dates on MA…yeah, Discovery would be at about the same time period as the main action of the movie, albeit in a different timeline (or altogether different universe, as I believe it to be).)

I’m just happy that Star Trek finally has another Jewish captain.

More casting news: Rain Wilson (Dwight from The Office) is cast as Harry Mudd. If Mudd is involved, that’s not a bad choice.

The trailer is up.

All that fucking lens flare.
The creators have forgot that The Kelvin Incident is what led to the Kelvin timeline Enterprise looking as advanced as it does. And we arn’t in the Kelvin Timeline.

That said…I can fanwank it away by saying that if Discovery is new then its actually built after NCC-1701.

I’ll watch it. Certainly looks better than any post-TOS pilot. And I haven’t seen any shoehorned in diversity for diversity’s sake. Or anything cringey…that is until we get a time travel ep with Colonel Green looking like Trump.

That looks awful. It’s not a trailer, it’s a warning.

I had pretty low expectations, but that trailer looked very good to me. The Klingons looked weird, but then the movie and TNG Klingons probably looked weird to TOS fans. Production values were way, way above what I expected.

I hate to say it, but The Orville looks better.

I thought Malfoy was going to be captain?

And I still don’t know if this is part of the original universe or follows the recent movies.

OU

Oof, that writing…

“You can’t set a course without a star”
“It would be irresponsible to leave whatever that is unknown”
“You will never learn Vulcan… your tongue is too human”
“My people were biologically determined for one purpose alone”

Ugh.

I will be watching The Orville. The trailer was very funny.

Have they said when it premieres?

Having seen that trailer, I am eagerly looking forward to playing Mass Effect: Discovery when it debuts on PC. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes, several times. But each time, it gets later.

You see! They’re already introducing time travel to cover up bad writing.

Looks good! I’ve long thought Michelle Yeoh would be a great addition to ST. And I guess that’s a new Klingon subspecies (or they’re reenvisioning the entire race). Still not crazy about the design of the USS Discovery, though.

Good one.

Yeah this definitely doesn’t look good enough to spend $10 a month to watch… at least not off of this trailer.

I’ll watch the pilot, but like the new movies it seems whoever is responsible just never “got” Trek.

And what the fuck is up with the Klingons?
