The Arizona state legislature is set to issue subpoenas against all five Mariposa County supervisors and the Mariposa County sheriff to answer why they are not cooperating with the vote “audit”.
To confirm:
So, Maricopa County was legally bound, then, to surrender 2 million-odd ballots, tallying machines and other equipment to these Cyber Ninjas slap-heads in Florida?
I ask because of how absolutely fucking gobsmacked I am that these conspiracist bozos managed to actually make such an acquisition.
I just find it funny what spell check gets and doesn’t. My iPhone always corrects my spelling and capitalization on anything to do with Star Wars, but replaces “for” with “fir” everytime I type it.
Senator James Inhofe I guess got tired of a black EPA nominee answering his questions, so he told her that if she didn’t behave he was going to “talk to her daddy”.
A spokesperson for the governor of Oklahoma told a Native American reporter that it’s the state government’s policy not the talk to black owned media, because they “respond to journalists, not activists pretending to be reporters.”
Congressman Andrew Clyde said today, that "There was no insurrection,” Clyde said. “And to call it an insurrection, in my opinion, is a bold-faced lie.”
Clyde also claimed that video taken during the insurrection looked like “a normal tourist visit,”
Coming out of the ouster of Liz Cheney, Kevin McCarthy said, “I don’t think anybody is questioning the legitimacy of the presidential election.”
He then came out of a meeting with Biden and the other Congressional leaders and tweeted, “I just met with Corrupt Joe Biden and he’s STILL planning to push his radical Socialist agenda onto the American people.”
Oddly enough it reminds me of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog talking to costumed Star Wars fans waiting in line for The Phantom Menace. One particular nerd told him “I don’t speak to inferior life forms.” Triumph addressed the nerd’s crotch and said “Hear that? He’s not talking to you!”
Aw. I was going to bring that one up. The party of “free speech,” everyone.
What the guy at the end misses is that, if a country is worthy of patriotism, then it doesn’t need be taught. Just like how a good, nice person doesn’t have to go around convincing people they are good and nice.
Your characterization of this incident is rather tendentious.
Upon reading your description, and the CNN headline, I thought that his comment must have been part of a testy exchange, or a strong difference of opinion. But as the body of the CNN story makes clear, the nominee had specifically mentioned her family and her father in her opening statement, and her father was in the room for the hearing. Inhofe was just making a little joke before he moved on to questioning other nominees. He explicitly referred to her opening statement about her family and her father before he made the quip.
And she’s not black; she’s the daughter of Indian immigrants.
I agree that it wasn’t a big deal, it was a textbook example of a microaggression. It carried the insinuation that she was a child (the use of the word “daddy” instead of father) that needed a good “talking to” if she misbehaved.
Lighthearted? Why would Inhofe share a genuine light-hearted quip with an official that he has an adversarial relationship with? She wasn’t a friend, and this wasn’t a social occasion. Do you really think he was trying to be genuinely nice? Inhofe? I can make a snowball so global warming is a hoax Inhofe? He knew he was putting her down, he probably had a good laugh with his troll friends.
Jut because you smile and use a friendly tone of voice when you say something belittling doesn’t make it a “light-hearted” quip.
And if you don’t laugh, or god forbid, complain…you’re just being overly sensitive and prickly. Because it’s not a big deal. It wasn’t a big deal, microaggressions never are. They’re like paper cuts, an injury so minor that it’s a joke, but if you get a dozen paper cuts a day it’s not that funny.
Let’s reverse the roles. If SHE had said that to HIM, what would the reaction be? I can guaran-damn-tee that Fox would be all over her for her comments and demeaning language.
I don’t measure things by the standard of what FOX News does or does not do. I know that if she had said the same thing to him, MY reaction–the only reaction I’m responsible for–would have been exactly the same.
Inhofe is a big fucking idiot in a variety of ways. I also think that what he said was unnecessary and a bit unprofessional considering the circumstances, and probably also reflects the patronizing attitude of an older man towards a younger women. There are all sorts of ways that we might identify it as a product of power imbalances between the two people.
But if you watch the video, it also seems to come across much more as “clueless grandpa” than any deliberate attempt to demean or humiliate or offend Ms. Fox. While unintended offense should still be identified, I still think intent matters, and I don’t see much here except a clumsy attempt at humor.
