NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 1)

#ISWYDT

A former staffer for Congressman Doug Lamborn is suing him, alleging that he was fired for objecting to the Congressman’s demands that his staffers come to the office in person in the middle of the pandemic, despite House rules, and harassed his employees who chose to wear masks.
(The link is politically biased, but it does give the gist of the lawsuit)

Can’t remember which one but one of the county sups had a radio interview last week and said (paraphrasing), “It’ll never end. Every time one of their fantastic tests comes up with no results they’ll just come up with another cockamamie test to run. Even if by some miracle they came up with something nobody reasonable’s going to believe them because the ballots have been screwed with so many times.”

Then some enterprising Trumpite brings suit so that the Supreme Court can throw out ALL Arizona Presidential votes (though in logic-free fashion, the suit will not request that elections that elected Republicans to lower offices be thrown out). This will remove Biden’s Electoral College win in Arizona.

SCOTUS will comply.

Then, rinse and repeat for two or three more key states, and voila! Trump is President!

Could be very well be with the Right refusing to use vaccines that the problem of Trumpism will partially solve itself by pure Darwinian mechanics.

I wonder if Trumpy areas in blue states are showing the same % vaccinated as Trumpy states? And, of course, vice versa: TX is 37% vaxxed, but are blue areas of TX more vaxxed than the red areas?

Fascinating

But not the least bit surprising.

Covid and vax denier Naomi Wolf claims that Biden should be impeached for not allowing unvaccinated people into the White House.

About the standing issue above: it doesn’t seem to me that giving people standing to sue helps all that much if you can’t then demonstrate an addressable wrong that occurred. Thus you’d still have to show some harm that occurred to you from someone having an abortion.

So it doesn’t seem like giving people standing to sue people for having abortion would accomplish anything other than changing why the suit would be dismissed.

If I’m going to be sued for having an abortion (unlikely, 60+ and never had a uterus), that is one more thing to consider about whether I should do it. It’s not like having to hire an attorney and show up in court to have the judge toss the suit is cost-free.

It’s yet another way to harass, punish and traumatize women. That’s not only a feature, it’s the feature.

That’s no different than if they didn’t have standing, though. Or, at least, that’s what I understood.

You do realize the underlying idea is, that when there are further problems and new outbreaks, they’ll be able to claim “AHA! Biden can’t fix this either!” or, even more so: “See? SEE?? There is NOTHING to do but just accept it and move on! They ruined the economy for something that could not possibly be avoided!”

My bold.

HA! Not so fast, bucko! If you think a nitpicky detail like that is going to protect you, you’ve got another think coming.

Stan: It’s every man’s right to have babies if he wants them.

Reg: But you can’t have babies.

Stan: Don’t you oppress me.

Reg: Where’s the fetus going to gestate? You going to keep it in a box?

It’s not Stan, it’s Loretta.

Yeah, how dare he proactively abort all his babies just by being born a man! And don’t go giving us that “I was an embryo at the time!” excuse!

Maybe we’ll get lucky and the bear will maul him to death.

BUT BUT BUT! You could go transgender at any time! Mabe get a womb! Go back to school and try out for the women’s basketball/tennis/golf/wrestling teams. We have to consider that so we are preemptively suing you!

That reminds me of MAD’s parody of All in the Family. Edith asked Mike and Gloria what they were doing that day.

Mike: We’re taking part in a reproductive rights demonstration. We’re fighting hard to to assure abortion rights for men.
Edith: But men can’t have abortions!
Mike: I know. That’s why we’re fighting so hard.
