It’s not at all clear what new facts or additional investigation yet another commission could actually lay on top of existing efforts by law enforcement and Congress
Yes, by all means let’s oppose a fact-finding endeavor that might actually uncover new facts.
To answer my own question - there are 36 counties in Oregon - the ones who want to leave (these five and two from earlier) and their place per capita are:
Sherman (27)
Lake (19)
Grant (23)
Baker (28)
Malheur (36)
Jefferson (35)
Union (17)
So they have the bottom two counties, and all seven are in the bottom half. Undoubtedly these counties all draw more state funds than they contribute. Maybe Oregon should let them go - though I wonder if Idaho actually wants them?
One problem is contiguity. Malheur+Baker+Union+Grant counties form a contiguous region that borders on Idaho (along Baker and Malheur), but Lake, Jefferson and Sherman are not only non-contiguous with that region, but none of those counties even border on each other. If Harney joined in, that would make Lake contiguous with the other four, but Sherman is up on the Columbia, way over at the edge of the Cascades, separated from Jefferson to the south by Wasco county. They need some help to make this crackpot notion even make a whiff of sense.
Today in Arizona vote auditing:
The “audit” company claims that they “restored” the data they previously claimed to have been deleted, and which the county said was never missing.
The state legislature, which funded the audit originally, held a hearing with the auditing company, but didn’t bother to ask them who’s paying for the rest of the audit, and the company didn’t care to share that information. Two pro-Individual 1 donors have admitted that they have contribued to the audit.
The chairman of the legislative committee that held the hearing said that the audit will be a model for lawmakers in the future.
Cool! I strongly encourage this, and we’ll then take the rest of Oregon and the coastal regions of Washington as the new Canadian province of Cascadia.
Hey Mitch, how many times did Republicans investigate what happened in Benghazi? Why shouldn’t we have that many investigations into what happened on our own soil, against our own government?
Missouri. He stands a pretty go shot at not being laughed out of the primary. I wonder how much worse things have to get before it starts getting less awful.
