At the RWNJ message board I occasionally look at, the reasons are obvious.
According to them, Biden is too old and suffering from dementia to be actually running the country. Apparently, he crapped his pants once, on live TV. He stumbles over words. He cannot read a teleprompter. But most damning is that he’s got “handlers” behind him, who tell him what to do, and what to say. Who those handlers are, is never stated, but every now and then, some will mention Biden as “Obama’s third term,” implying that Obama is pulling the strings that control Biden. That’s why “Sleepy Joe,” “Sleepy Xoe,” (implying that he’s under Chinese influence), or “Biden*” (like a drugged-up ballplayer in the record books) won’t take questions from the press: because he hasn’t been coached by his handlers on how to respond to reporters’ questions.
That’s why they believe that Biden must be impeached: because he’s too old, too demented, and too controlled by others to be an effective President.
In other words, he won’t do what Trumpists want, so he must be impeached.
He said the reason in that same statement: They’ll do it to Biden, because the Democrats did it to Trump, so now it’s “normal” to just impeach the President, actual grounds for impeachment be damned.
Of course, being a Modern Republican, he will never admit that Trump actually did things that deserved impeachment, unlike Biden.
Sometimes, though, that can result in things like over 60 unsuccesful GOP lawsuits questioning election results. Sure, Jan. 6 was certainly “htting back harder”, but even with that (and I’m probably in the minority when stating this) I think the deplorables are too well aware that they’ll never, ever, ever get away again with causing the amount of rucus that they did on that day - they’ll just simply get way too contained, way too quickly, next time around, for them to even contemplate the challenge. They know security will be much more prepared for whenever “next time” might happen to roll around, if at all.
The problem is that “next time” they won’t need to do that, the state legislatures will simply reject the voters obviously misguided and fraudulent choices and just send the republican electors to the electoral college, or so I fear at least.
So, if Republican state legislatures send a slate of Republican electors to the electoral college, in an effort to thwart the will of the people, what’s to prevent Democratic senators from contesting every one of those electoral slates, just like Republicans planned to do for Trump? Democrats could legitimately bog down the electoral count just like the Republicans wanted to do, right?
Republican activists in Michigan and Arizona tried sending the National Archives fake documents purporting to award each state’s 2020 electoral votes to Donald Trump and Mike Pence. The erroneous documents are now in the hands of the House select committee investigating the 6 January insurrection.
This is in addition to the Wisconsin fake electors.

I can’t understand what these people, especially mid level elected officials think they are going to get out of this. They think that if they help overthrow the government, somehow the will stay in office I guess.
In the county that I work for, if such a thing happened, they would be immediately be removed from office by an escort.

The same thing El Cheeto is getting out of it - riling up the rubes, so that they get more votes next time. They know that at most they’re going to get a slap on the wrist - misdemeanor something or a state house censure. Kinda like MTG and her Twitter ban - it’s a mark of honor! They knew it wouldn’t actually work, and they know that they won’t get into any trouble over it. It’s a no-lose situation.
(Barring death or resignation) how could they? They would only get a majority after an election - which would be contested by the then-Democrat majority.
