Oh, I think I have been through there, on the road from Phoenix to Tucson. I believe Florence is fairly well known as the town with the Grey Bar Hotel that hosts Arizona’s most deserving of a vacation. How pleasing it would be to see Individual-ONE getting a nice secure room there.
The officials say Ducey can use a novel interpretation of the U.S. Constitution to have the National Guard or state police forcibly send migrants to Mexico without regard to immigration laws and law enforcement procedures. They would operate instead as a sort of military force repelling a foreign army.

Hey, if we’re just gonna call it like we see it then I’m glad we call all agree that 6 January 2021 was a fucking rebellion and Trump colluded with Russia back in 2016.
Since when does the federal Constitution say anything at all about the powers of a state’s governor? And since when does a governor have “war powers”? Isn’t that reserved for the federal government?
I cannot believe I’m even thinking about these questions.
They seem to be basing this on Article I, Section 10;
That being said, I can’t imagine that even this Supreme Court would find that a disorganized mass of unarmed individuals (including women and children) from various countries crossing the border of their own volition constitutes an “invasion”.
The new Congress is sworn in on January 3, I believe. So it’s the Congress elected in November 2024 that would be certifying the Presidential electoral votes on January 6, 2025.
Since the Presidential ticket isn’t sworn in until January 20, the previous VP remains as president of the Senate until then.
Isn’t the American democratic system weird? And isn’t it strange none of this was ever an issue before Trump the Great and Powerful?
We’ve been hearing the “If we let them into our country, terrorism will follow” argument for decades now. It’s almost as if Republicans want a terrorist attack to happen just so they can say “I told you so”.
After 9/11, Republicans were given extraordinary powers and deference. They’d really like to have that again to push forward with their authoritarian agenda.
