NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 1)

There was a great deal of kerfuffle yesterday on the Senate floor between Democratic Senator Sherrod Brown and Republican Senator David Sullivan, who was presiding, over why Sullivan wasn’t wearing a mask. So, in the midst of that, Chuck Gassley appeared on the floor. Today, he announced that he is going to go into quarantine.

After the Secretary of State of Georgia announced that Lindsey Graham had contacted him to try to get votes thrown out, Lindsey said that it was his duty as a Senator to ensure voter integrity. He also claims that he contacted the Secretaries of State of Nevada and Arizona. The Secretary of State of Arizona said, “No, he didn’t.”

Actually, I don’t see how it’s any of Lindsey Graham’s business how Georgia conducts its elections.

Terrorists aren’t really pre-disposed to caring about the law or propriety.

I wonder why Senator Graham, and his push for voter integrity, would be focused on those three states now, rather than all fifty states with enough lead time to put proper measures in place.

Charlie Kirk: The left hates Thanksgiving.

He brings up the SDS… they were last active 51 fucking years ago. No one alive today gives a shit about the SDS except as a historical fact. They’ve had zero influence for 50 years.

What is SDS?

Students for a Democratic Society was a student activist organization in the 1960s.

ETA: According to that Wiki article, a new SDS formed in 2006. I did not know that; ignorance fought. Still, the reference in the video clip was to the 1960s organization, not the current incarnation.

Could McConnell embargo the Fed as he has embargoed the federal courts, with a view of paralyzing monetary policy in order to hurt Democratic chances in the elections of 2022 and 2024?
[/quote]

Absolutely he coul do this, and I’m sure he will try. The is the absolute goal of McConnell and the rest of his crew: To damage the United States as much as possible and blame this on Biden. This is what the Republicans stand for now; Screw the country, blame the Dems.

I’m almost 54 years old and I have never known the Republicans to be any other way.

^100% this.

No journalist should speak to Graham without getting an answer on this point.

Wow, good thing Kirk told us! I had no idea that I was supposed to be hating Thanksgiving!

I love Thanksgiving. I will be giving thanks that sometime soon, Trump will no longer be in the White House, and the main dinner course will honor what a complete turkey he is.

I strongly suspect you will be joining millions in this, nation-wide!

The first person to come up with a way to turn turkey skin Trump Orange and be safe to eat could make a fortune!

There was this guy, and this guy, and this guy. President Leslie Lynch King Jr. was, yes, a doofus, but not vicious or evil like modern Republicans. And, apart from that Operation Ajax fuckupery, Eisenhower seemed like mostly a decent guy. “Republican” is not, per se, a synonym for asshole, and they may actually get better in a few decades. But not without some proper flogging.

I know you’re trying to prove some sort of point here, but the fact remains. . .that’s not his name.

US law (right from the start) has recognized that anyone can change their name at any time for any reason (other than deceit). In 46 states it’s good enough to just start calling yourself by the new name; no legal paperwork required.

His mother changed his name when he was 3, and he went to court to make it official when he was 21. He’s never called himself by any other name. So, whatever trivia contest you think you’re winning with that little nugget of information. There has never been a President named King.

Don’t take this the wrong way, but I think you should consider lightening up a bit with this one. I thought it was just a bit of clever fun — forced me to think for a moment about who it might be referring to, and I guessed correctly — so I had to give the post (and the man) a little more attention than otherwise, which in this case I think was helpful.

We Dopers are prone to these things,Ike calling Bob Dylan “Zimmy.” Yeah, it’s slightly show-offy, but IMHO It shouldn’t provoke a rebuking lecture on legal name changes. I think we get that.

Team Biden is going to have to hire a propaganda or an information warfare team that can tackle someone like McConnell and the Sean Hannities of the world. By that I mean, they need to get people who actually have an Army War College pedigree or experience in the military using info-warfare techniques.

So, Alex Jones?
