I seriously (not merely rhetorically) wonder how politically-active reactionary/MAGA women react when they hear this shit? Do they roll their eyes and say “see, I told you I’m not the most reactionary”? Do they agree but think they’re the exception, a Phyllis Schafly for the 21st Century? Do they compartmentalize it into religion: “only men should lead in church, but women can lead elsewhere”? Do they ignore it or claim it’s not real, as with any of Trump’s idiotic remarks?
Are they self-hating, and actually agree? Could be. “I defer to my husband. He makes all the decisions. He tells me who to vote for. And he controls the TV remote. It’s best this way.”
Or are they just holding two contradictory thoughts in their head at the same time? “Men should be in charge. But they don’t mean to control me.”
It’d be almost as stupid to vote for Michele Bachmann for president, who would likely take a subservient role to any male counterpart in the world, as it would be to vote for Ben Carson, whose Seventh-Day Adventist faith informs him that the United States will play a huge role in the coming apocalypse. (He might have very well sped it up by launching some nuclear weapons.)
Blake Masters proudly announces that he can’t figure out how to work the self-service touchscreen at McDonald’s, while simultaneously demanding they hire more cashiers and complaining that prices are too high.
I’ve seen a Traitor Joe’s t-shirt aping the Trader Joe’s look and feel. Clever, if idiotic. I’m perpetually astonished that millions of American voters believe Biden is a criminal and Trump a hero.
