NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 2)

…more cytoplasm for that foetus,
Reich wing leave the girls alone.

Oh, man. As a kid I used to live for the day the box of Scholastic books would arrive…

And to those who look at stories like this and say ‘well if Florida can’t find enough teachers to hire, maybe Floridians should look at what their governor is doing’…

…That’s the point.

Not being able to find enough teachers = we can privatize education–and all those juicy tax dollars can go straight into oligarchical pockets!!11!!!

(I know you guys know this, but; still.)

I found a really funny video where a girl portrays the poor grocery store worker who had to deal with Oz (she mentions the chunky salsa option).

Hey, you try finding something in the veggie aisle to pump up the price on a handful of stuff to poutrage levels.

And it’s all Biden’s fault! He fired the pandemic response team because he didn’t want to pay them for doing nothing!

Oh, wait. That was Trump.

Is Crudités really that unusual a word?

Yes, and particularly compared to ‘veggie tray’. I’ve known for a while from context that it was food, and in the hors d’oeuvres category. I didn’t realize it was specifically veggies and dip until I just now looked it up.

I know what they are. To me crudites is an unusual word for a veggie tray though.

I only ask because I’ve seen it suggested that making fun of Oz for using the word is “elitism” or “anti-intellectualism” or something along those lines. Which led into discussions of why we view French as a “pretentious” language, but that’s another discussion.

I’d call it a “vegetable platter” myself, or maybe just “some sliced vegetables”, but yeah.

I’m currently in Pennsylvania, and I’m pretty sure that the majority of tailgate parties at the Eagles, Steelers, and even Penn State games serve crudite. I’m kidding, of course.

Isn’t that just another word for BudLite?

If you pronounce it the right way, crud-ite rhymes with BudLite, and doesn’t sound French (or appetizing) at all.

Or vice versa.

Plus, it’s an anagram for “ice turd.”

I’m pretty sure that in all my years in the cultural wasteland of the Great Plains, I’ve never heard that word. I may have seen it in print, but I couldn’t tell you where or when.

Maybe you did hear it, but people pronounced it ‘crud-ites’.

Pretty sure I’ve never heard that, either. Certainly not in a context that includes raw vegetables.
