NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 2)

“Yeah - Those go down rather easily, don’t they?” Maus said to his secret shame.

He backed it up with receipts:

Even with receipts, this is a bit of a “Look how much it cost me to fill up my HumVee!” story. I get nauseous just thinking about all that greasy food washed down with the chemical slurry that is a “Mountain Dew Baja Blast Freeze”.

Bonus shade points to AOC for tweeting:

I love that woman.

Someone on the twitter thread did the math, and came up with 2100 calories plus the guac. That’s not a lunch.

He also seemed to order the most expensive thing from each category, there are cheaper tacos and burritos he could have had. The location he was at also seems to be well above the prices listed online.

I can believe that one can spend $28 at taco bell, but that is not typical, and so his example is meaningless.

That isn’t to say that the viewers who watched that won’t believe that it is relevant.

1 buritto
Nacho bel grande
2 other “vanity” tacos

This is not a lunch for 1; it’s a lunch for 2. $14 each? Unfortunately, not far off.

I know Dennis Lee AKA Fart Sandwich. We used to work together in the web hosting world before he pursued his dream of being the most hilarious and weird food writer there is.

Also, his primary bitch is about how bad inflation was. Which makes me wonder: What would the cost have been for the identical items at the identical Taco Bell two years ago?

Doesn’t matter. Whatever the question, the answer is always Joe Biden. Unless it’s good, then the answer is TFG. No thought required.

How far are we from the two minutes of hate – for a large segment of the population, anyway?

About six years ago, and that’s a charitable interpretation.

What’s head-banging-against-a-walll stupid about the whole thing is TB isn’t some elite NYC/DC fine dining. They’re everywhere! Any Fox-watching moron can go on down to their local TB and see with their own eyes what a load of BS this guy’s $28 lunch is.

That’s $0.005/kcal, which isn’t too bad. I sometimes get the Taco & Burrito Cravings Pack, which is $10.99 for 2640 kcal, or only $0.0042/kcal. That is more than I can eat in a sitting, but the burritos reheat ok.

The cheapest I’ve found is the Cheesy Bean and Rice Burrito, which is 420 kcal for $1, or only $0.0024/kcal. That’s cheaper than soda!

That said, Taco Bell prices seem to have outpaced inflation. You could get a 10-apck of crunchy tacos in 1989 for $5. Those tacos should be $1.19 today based on overall inflation, but instead they’re $1.69.

I went online using our local Taco Bell, which is about 2 miles from my house. I ordered exactly what this clown ordered. With tax, my total was $24.08. So his total probably isn’t out of line in a different location.

But, dammit, that’s a lot of food! I’ve been known to eat a lot at one sitting, but there’s no way in hell that I could eat that much, especially at lunch, when I’m going back to the office.

If TB’s prices have risen 10% in the past year, then his order before the rise in prices would still have been about $25.50. Who in the hell EVER spends that much at a fast-food joint for lunch for himself?

I’m seeing a Republican talking point on Twitter, multiple different people posting multiple tweets, about how if Alex Jones was fined for lying, shouldn’t Fauci be, too?

Those people can’t be reached by any known reasoning method, psychological manipulation, or behavior modification. They will only grow older and more calcified in their thinking.

Their release from self imposed torture is finally passing away.

If they can show that he lied in a court of law, using evidence and everything, then yeah, sure, he should be fined.

“If”.

Herschel Walker telling a story about a bull and six cows and how it relates to America.

A melange of autobiography, homophobia, and jingoism.
