I don’t know what, if any, crimes she’s committed. But there’s at least the possibility that she’ll be convicted of something. That’s what has her worried.
The elections commissioner of Rensselaer County, New York is planning on pleading guilty to federal charges of falsely obtaining and filing absentee ballots.
I’m curious if this case has the potential to result in jail time. Even with everything he lied about, common sense would suggest you pay whatever fines or judgements you need to before running for office.
I was just looking at his wiki page and saw this:
His landlady filed for eviction, and he agreed to leave by December 24 and pay her $2,250 in back rent. In mid-January 2016, he told Queens Housing Court, in a statement signed under oath, that he was robbed of the money in Queensboro Plaza on his way to pay the back rent to his landlady’s lawyer and that police were unable to take a report at the time, telling him to return later. There is no record he ever did.
If George Santos running for Congress results in him getting thrown in a Brazilian prison, we may as well lock the thread, as I don’t think there’s a Stupid Republican Idea out there that could possibly top that kind of own-goal.
