NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 2)

It all hinges on the Freedom! con. Ms Clinton was going to amplify Democratic policies that chip away at our freedoms, ultimately leading to us all living under the big government bootheel pressed down hard on our necks. The walthiest R Party backers push hard on this narrative in an effort to convince the R peons that impositions on the upper class amount to impositions on the trailer class. This has proved very effective, as the balance of freedom continues to accrue toward the wealthiest.

I’ve always seen it as analogous to walking into a restaurant and I can choose between a bland, poorly done hamburger, or a plate of pureed feces and rotting meat with maggots on top and, because the burger is a blando-burger, I just have to order the fecal alternative.

And though I am aware of the Hillary-is-evil thing, I never understood why people thought that.

A few years ago I was watching an interview with a Republican strategist on CBC and he was adamant that Trump had to go because he was so damaging. The interviewer then asked if he would have, in retrospect, voted for Hillary. The Republican’s response was in the hell-freezing and flying-pigs vein; therefore IMHO he was complicit. I just don’t understand it.

Hillary hate had been cultivated ever since Bill became president in 1993, and had 24 years to grow and fester. She was portrayed as an opportunistic shrew from the get-go, and enough time had gone by for a new generation of voters to inherit the Hillary hate and spread it.

What bugs me about this thought process isn’t so much that it’s illogical, but that it excuses the GOP from their choice to make an unsuitable person their candidate. It seems to come up over and over again where a ridiculous person is granted the nomination, and gets a huge percentage of the vote because, what, I’m going to vote Democrat?

Bret Baier of Fox tried to make it look like Pete Buttigieg was doing something wrong by traveling to the Invictus games, as the US government’s official representative, with his husband on taxpayers’ dimes. Pete pointed out that all of the past representatives had traveled with their wives, so why was it any different?

A Herschel Walker staffer claims that Matt Schlapp groped him.

Yeah, Trump’s win opened the door to all sorts of unfit GOP candidates. Best we can hope for is for GOP voters who can’t stomach voting for a Democrat under any circumstances to just stay home.

Here’s a video of the exchange. Baier quickly drops the subject after Buttigieg points out the hypocrisy.

Can’t be ruled out. They don’t test breathing on the GED, so she might never have studied it on any of her tries at achieving that landmark.

She’s uppity. That’s all they needed to know.

(From Gyrate’s link…)

Oh, theres a term for that, I’ve seen it here on the boards. Republicans use the term when they’re afraid to be specific about their point. They instead use the term"conservative values". But there it is up above.

The Hillary hate started when he was Governor of Arkansas and she was going by her maiden name.

One of Alex Jones’s lawyers has had his right to practice law suspended because of his revealing of Sandy Hook parents’ medical records. But only for six months.

If Matt Schlapp’s gay lovers did not “mask up”, so to say, were they just exercising their rights if Matt gets HIV? Is this an argument he would be willing to accept? How about his wife?

Gotta wonder about their dedication to the application of this principle, so loudly proclaimed re: COVID.

Yeah, I’ve always said I can forgive voting for Trump in 2016. If you were a “party before person” issues voter or a single-issue voter (let’s say abortion or guns), I get it. I’d disagree vehemently on the wisdom of that choice, but I can understand. You may have considered Trump a clown, but better the devil-you-think-you-know.

But I give no passes to anyone who voted for him in 2020. Because by then he had shown himself himself be to so disastrously toxic and incompetent that voting for him was a sign of a complete existential failure.

The Schlapps.
What a strange, strange couple.

George Santos is also a white supremacist now.

Well, of course! He founded the KKK!

He looks like he’s belly dancing.

Does having a fist fight (or nearly so) count as a SRIOTD?

What about electing McCarthy as Speaker?

What is with these idiotic hand signals? Is that all it takes to make people think they’re in on secret information? To what extent is it a right-wing and / or racist thing? Strikes me as infantile, and more often than not associated with Proud Boys type morons.
